Surah As-Saff — The Ranks

سَبَّحَ لِلَّهِ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ﴿١﴾

ALL THAT IS in the heavens and all that is on earth extols God's limitless glory: for He alone is almighty, truly wise!

ആകാശങ്ങളിലുള്ളതും ഭൂമിയിലുള്ളതുമെല്ലാം ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അനന്തമായ മഹിമയെ വാഴ്ത്തുന്നു. കാരണം അവൻ പ്രതാപശാലിയും അത്യധികം യുക്തിമാനുമാകുന്നു.

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لِمَ تَقُولُونَ مَا لَا تَفْعَلُونَ﴿٢﴾

O YOU who have attained to faith! Why do you say one thing and do another?

സത്യവിശ്വാസമാർജിച്ചവരേ! നിങ്ങൾ പ്രവർത്തിക്കാത്തത് എന്തിനാണ് നിങ്ങൾ പറയുന്നത്?

كَبُرَ مَقْتًا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ أَن تَقُولُوا۟ مَا لَا تَفْعَلُونَ﴿٣﴾

Most loathsome is it in the sight of God that you say what you do not do!

നിങ്ങൾ പ്രവർത്തിക്കാത്ത കാര്യം പറയുക എന്നത് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ അങ്ങേയറ്റം വെറുപ്പുളവാക്കുന്ന കാര്യമാകുന്നു!

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُقَٰتِلُونَ فِى سَبِيلِهِۦ صَفًّۭا كَأَنَّهُم بُنْيَٰنٌۭ مَّرْصُوصٌۭ﴿٤﴾

Verily, God loves [only] those who fight in His cause in [solid] ranks, as though they were a building firm and compact.

തീർച്ചയായും, ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മാർഗ്ഗത്തിൽ സുഭദ്രമായ സൗധം കണക്കെ അണിനിരന്ന് പോരാടുന്നവരെ മാത്രമാണ് ദൈവം ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നത്.

وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوْمِهِۦ يَٰقَوْمِ لِمَ تُؤْذُونَنِى وَقَد تَّعْلَمُونَ أَنِّى رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ إِلَيْكُمْ ۖ فَلَمَّا زَاغُوٓا۟ أَزَاغَ ٱللَّهُ قُلُوبَهُمْ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلْفَٰسِقِينَ﴿٥﴾

Now when Moses spoke to his people, [it was this same truth that he had in mind:] "O my people! Why do you cause me grief, the while you know that I am an apostle of God sent unto you?" And so, when they swerved from the right way, God let their hearts swerve from the truth: for God does not bestow His guidance upon iniquitous folk.

മോശെ തന്റെ ജനങ്ങളോട് പറഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മനസ്സിൽ ഇതേ സത്യം തന്നെയായിരുന്നു: "എന്റെ ജനങ്ങളേ! ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളിലേക്ക് അയക്കപ്പെട്ട ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദൂതനാണെന്ന് നിങ്ങൾക്ക് വ്യക്തമായി അറിയാമായിരുന്നിട്ടും നിങ്ങൾ എന്തിനാണ് എന്നെ വേദനിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്? അങ്ങനെ അവർ നേർവഴിയിൽ നിന്ന് വ്യതിചലിച്ചപ്പോൾ, ദൈവം അവരുടെ ഹൃദയങ്ങളെ സത്യത്തിൽ നിന്ന് വ്യതിചലിപ്പിച്ചു. കാരണം അധർമ്മകാരികളായ ജനങ്ങൾക്ക് ദൈവം തന്റെ മാർഗ്ഗദർശനം നൽകുകയില്ല.

وَإِذْ قَالَ عِيسَى ٱبْنُ مَرْيَمَ يَٰبَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ إِنِّى رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ إِلَيْكُم مُّصَدِّقًۭا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَىَّ مِنَ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِ وَمُبَشِّرًۢا بِرَسُولٍۢ يَأْتِى مِنۢ بَعْدِى ٱسْمُهُۥٓ أَحْمَدُ ۖ فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ قَالُوا۟ هَٰذَا سِحْرٌۭ مُّبِينٌۭ﴿٦﴾

And [this happened, too,] when Jesus, the son of Mary, said: "O children of Israel! Behold, I am an apostle of God unto you, [sent] to confirm the truth of whatever there still remains of the Torah, and to give [you] the glad tiding of an apostle who shall come after me, whose name shall be Ahmad." But when he [whose coming Jesus had foretold] came unto them with all evidence of the truth, they said: "This [alleged message of his] is [nothing but] spellbinding eloquence!"

മേരിയുടെ മകൻ യേശു പറഞ്ഞപ്പോഴുള്ള കാര്യവും (ഇതുപോലെ സംഭവിച്ചതാണ്): "ഇസ്രായീൽ സന്തതികളേ! തോറയിൽ നിന്ന് ഇനിയും അവശേഷിക്കുന്നവയുടെ സത്യപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതിനും, എനിക്ക് ശേഷം വരാനിരിക്കുന്ന അഹ്മദ് എന്ന് പേരുള്ള ഒരു ദൂതനെക്കുറിച്ച് നിങ്ങൾക്ക് സന്തോഷവാർത്ത നൽകുന്നതിനുമായി നിങ്ങളിലേക്ക് അയക്കപ്പെട്ട ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദൂതനാണ് ഞാൻ." എന്നാൽ, ആരുടെ വരവിനെക്കുറിച്ചാണോ യേശു മുൻകൂട്ടി പറഞ്ഞത് ആ പ്രവാചകൻ വ്യക്തമായ തെളിവുകളുമായി അവരുടെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നപ്പോൾ അവർ പറഞ്ഞു: "ഇത്, അദ്ദേഹം അവകാശപ്പെടുന്ന ഈ സന്ദേശം, ആളുകളെ മയക്കുന്ന വെറും ഹൃദയഹാരിയായ വാക്ചാതുരി മാത്രമാണ്!"

وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ ٱفْتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلْكَذِبَ وَهُوَ يُدْعَىٰٓ إِلَى ٱلْإِسْلَٰمِ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ﴿٧﴾

And who could be more wicked than one who invents [such] a lie about [a message from] God, seeing that he is [but] being called to self-surrender unto Him? But God does not bestow His guidance upon evil-doing folk.

താൻ ദൈവത്തിന് മുന്നിൽ പൂർണ്ണമായി സമർപ്പിക്കാൻ ക്ഷണിക്കപ്പെടുമ്പോൾ, ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പേരിലേക്ക് ഇത്തരമൊരു കള്ളം കെട്ടിച്ചമച്ചുണ്ടാക്കുന്നവനേക്കാൾ അധർമ്മകാരിയായി ആരാണുള്ളത്? എന്നാൽ അക്രമികളായ ജനങ്ങൾക്ക് ദൈവം തന്റെ മാർഗ്ഗദർശനം നൽകുകയില്ല.

يُرِيدُونَ لِيُطْفِـُٔوا۟ نُورَ ٱللَّهِ بِأَفْوَٰهِهِمْ وَٱللَّهُ مُتِمُّ نُورِهِۦ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ﴿٨﴾

They aim to extinguish God's light with their utterances: but God has willed to spread His light in all its fullness, however hateful this may be to all who deny the truth.

തങ്ങളുടെ വാക്കുകൾ കൊണ്ട് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പ്രകാശത്തെ കെടുത്തിക്കളയാനാണ് അവർ ലക്ഷ്യമിടുന്നത്; എന്നാൽ സത്യനിഷേധികൾക്ക് അത് എത്രതന്നെ വെറുപ്പുളവാക്കുന്നതാണെങ്കിലും, ദൈവം തന്റെ പ്രകാശത്തെ അതിന്റെ പൂർണ്ണതയിൽ പരത്താൻ ഇച്ഛിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

هُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَرْسَلَ رَسُولَهُۥ بِٱلْهُدَىٰ وَدِينِ ٱلْحَقِّ لِيُظْهِرَهُۥ عَلَى ٱلدِّينِ كُلِّهِۦ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ ٱلْمُشْرِكُونَ﴿٩﴾

He it is who has sent forth His Apostle with [the task of] spreading guidance and the religion of truth, to the end that He make it prevail over all [false] religion, however hateful this may be to those who ascribe divinity to aught but God.

മറ്റെല്ലാ (വ്യാജ)മതങ്ങൾക്കും മീതെ സത്യമതത്തെ വിജയിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനായി, സന്മാർഗ്ഗവും സത്യമതവും വ്യാപിപ്പിക്കുകയെന്ന ചുമതലയോടെ തന്റെ ദൂതനെ നിയോഗിച്ചവൻ അവനാകുന്നു; ദൈവത്തിനപ്പുറം മറ്റുള്ളവർക്ക് ദിവ്യത്വം കൽപ്പിച്ചു നൽകുന്നവർക്ക് അത് എത്രതന്നെ വെറുപ്പുളവാക്കുന്നതാണെങ്കിലും ശരി.

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ هَلْ أَدُلُّكُمْ عَلَىٰ تِجَٰرَةٍۢ تُنجِيكُم مِّنْ عَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍۢ﴿١٠﴾

O YOU who have attained to faith! Shall I point out to you a bargain that will save you from grievous suffering [in this world and in the life to come]?

സത്യവിശ്വാസമാർജിച്ചവരേ! ഈ ലോകത്തിലും പരലോകത്തിലും വേദനാജനകമായ ശിക്ഷയിൽ നിന്ന് നിങ്ങളെ രക്ഷിക്കുന്ന ഒരു ലാഭകരമായ ഇടപാടിനെക്കുറിച്ച് ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്ക് വഴികാണിച്ചു തരട്ടെയോ?

تُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَتُجَٰهِدُونَ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ بِأَمْوَٰلِكُمْ وَأَنفُسِكُمْ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌۭ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ﴿١١﴾

You are to believe in God and His Apostle, and to strive hard in God's cause with your possessions and your lives: this is for your own good - if you but knew it!

നിങ്ങൾ ദൈവത്തിലും അവിടുത്തെ ദൂതനിലും വിശ്വസിക്കുക, നിങ്ങളുടെ സമ്പത്ത് കൊണ്ടും നിങ്ങളുടെ ജീവൻ കൊണ്ടും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മാർഗ്ഗത്തിൽ കഠിനമായി പ്രയത്നിക്കുക. നിങ്ങൾ മനസ്സിലാക്കുന്നുവെങ്കിൽ ഇതാണ് നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ഏറ്റവും ഉത്തമം!

يَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوبَكُمْ وَيُدْخِلْكُمْ جَنَّٰتٍۢ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ وَمَسَٰكِنَ طَيِّبَةًۭ فِى جَنَّٰتِ عَدْنٍۢ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ﴿١٢﴾

[If you do so,] He will forgive you your sins, and [in the life to come] will admit you into gardens through which running waters flow, and into goodly mansions in [those] gardens of perpetual bliss: that [will be] the triumph supreme!

നിങ്ങൾ അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യുകയാണെങ്കിൽ, ദൈവം നിങ്ങളുടെ പാപങ്ങൾ പൊറുത്തുതരികയും, പരലോകത്തിൽ അരുവികൾ ഒഴുകുന്ന സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തോപ്പുകളിലും, ശാശ്വതമായ ആനന്ദത്തിന്റെ ഉദ്യാനങ്ങളിലുമുള്ള നല്ല മണിമാളികകളിലും നിങ്ങളെ പ്രവേശിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും. അത് മാത്രമാണ് മഹത്തായ വിജയം!

وَأُخْرَىٰ تُحِبُّونَهَا ۖ نَصْرٌۭ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَفَتْحٌۭ قَرِيبٌۭ ۗ وَبَشِّرِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ﴿١٣﴾

And [withal, He will grant you] yet another thing that you dearly love: succour from God [in this world], and a victory soon to come: : and [thereof, O Prophet,] give thou a glad tiding to all who believe.

കൂടാതെ ഇവയോടൊപ്പം, നിങ്ങൾ അത്യധികം ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്ന മറ്റൊരു കാര്യം കൂടി ദൈവം നിങ്ങൾക്ക് നൽകും: ഈ ലോകത്തിൽ ദൈവത്തിൽ നിന്നുള്ള സഹായവും, ഉടനെത്തന്നെ വരാനിരിക്കുന്ന ഒരു വിജയവും. അതിനാൽ പ്രവാചകാ, വിശ്വസിച്ചവർക്കെല്ലാം നീ ഈ സന്തോഷവാർത്ത അറിയിക്കുക!

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ كُونُوٓا۟ أَنصَارَ ٱللَّهِ كَمَا قَالَ عِيسَى ٱبْنُ مَرْيَمَ لِلْحَوَارِيِّۦنَ مَنْ أَنصَارِىٓ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ ۖ قَالَ ٱلْحَوَارِيُّونَ نَحْنُ أَنصَارُ ٱللَّهِ ۖ فَـَٔامَنَت طَّآئِفَةٌۭ مِّنۢ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ وَكَفَرَت طَّآئِفَةٌۭ ۖ فَأَيَّدْنَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ عَلَىٰ عَدُوِّهِمْ فَأَصْبَحُوا۟ ظَٰهِرِينَ﴿١٤﴾

O YOU who have attained to faith! Be helpers [in the cause of God - even as Jesus, the son of Mary, said unto the white-garbed ones, "Who will be my helpers in God's cause?" - whereupon the white-garbed [disciples] replied, "We shall be [thy] helpers [in the cause] of God!" And so [it happened that] some of the children of Israel came to believe [in the apostleship of Jesus], whereas others denied the truth. But [now] We have given strength against their foes unto those who have [truly] attained to faith: and they have become the ones that shall prevail.

സത്യവിശ്വാസമാർജിച്ചവരേ! നിങ്ങൾ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മാർഗ്ഗത്തിൽ സഹായികളാകുവിൻ — മറിയമിന്റെ (മേരിയുടെ) മകൻ ഈസാ (യേശു) വെള്ളവസ്ത്രധാരികളായ തന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരോട്, "ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മാർഗ്ഗത്തിൽ ആരാണ് എന്റെ സഹായികളാകാനുള്ളത്?" എന്ന് ചോദിച്ചതുപോലെ. അതിന് വെള്ളവസ്ത്രധാരികളായ ആ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ മറുപടി നൽകി, "ഞങ്ങൾ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മാർഗ്ഗത്തിലുള്ള സഹായികളാകാം!" അങ്ങനെ ഇസ്രായീൽ സന്തതികളിൽ ഒരു വിഭാഗം യേശുവിന്റെ പ്രവാചകത്വത്തിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കുകയും, മറ്റൊരു വിഭാഗം ആ സത്യത്തെ നിഷേധിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. എന്നാൽ (ഇപ്പോൾ) (യഥാർത്ഥമായി) വിശ്വസിച്ചവർക്ക് അവരുടെ ശത്രുക്കൾക്കെതിരെ നാം ശക്തി നൽകിയിരിക്കുന്നു; അങ്ങനെ അവർ ആത്യന്തികമായി വിജയം വരിച്ചവരായി മാറുകയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.
