Surah Al-Muzzammil — The Enwrapped One

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْمُزَّمِّلُ﴿١﴾

O THOU enwrapped one!

അല്ലയോ മൂടിപ്പുതച്ചുറങ്ങുന്നവനേ!

قُمِ ٱلَّيْلَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًۭا﴿٢﴾

Keep awake [in prayer] at night, all but a small part

രാത്രിയിൽ അല്പസമയമൊഴിച്ച് (പ്രാർത്ഥനയിൽ) ഉണർന്നിരിക്കുക —

نِّصْفَهُۥٓ أَوِ ٱنقُصْ مِنْهُ قَلِيلًا﴿٣﴾

of one- half thereof - or make it a little less than that,

അഥവാ, അതിന്റെ പകുതി സമയം, അല്ലെങ്കിൽ അതിനേക്കാൾ അല്പം കുറയ്ക്കുക.

أَوْ زِدْ عَلَيْهِ وَرَتِّلِ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ تَرْتِيلًا﴿٤﴾

or add to it [at will]; and [during that time] recite the Qur'an calmly and distinctly, with thy mind attuned to its meaning.

അല്ലെങ്കിൽ അതിലേക്ക് (നിന്റെ ഇഷ്ടാനുസരണം) അല്പം കൂട്ടിക്കൊള്ളുക; ഖുർആൻ അർത്ഥം ഗ്രഹിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് സാവകാശത്തിലും വ്യക്തമായും ഓതുക.

إِنَّا سَنُلْقِى عَلَيْكَ قَوْلًۭا ثَقِيلًا﴿٥﴾

Behold, We shall bestow upon thee a weighty message

കാണുക! നാം നിനക്ക് ഭാരിച്ച ഒരു സന്ദേശം നൽകാൻ പോകുന്നു.

إِنَّ نَاشِئَةَ ٱلَّيْلِ هِىَ أَشَدُّ وَطْـًۭٔا وَأَقْوَمُ قِيلًا﴿٦﴾

[and,] verily, the hours of night the mind most strongly and speak with the clearest voice,

(കൂടാതെ) തീർച്ചയായും, രാത്രിയിലെ നിമിഷങ്ങൾ മനസ്സിന് ഏറെ ശക്തി നൽകുന്നതും അത്യധികം വ്യക്തതയോടെ സംസാരിക്കാൻ പ്രാപ്തമാക്കുന്നതുമാകുന്നു.

إِنَّ لَكَ فِى ٱلنَّهَارِ سَبْحًۭا طَوِيلًۭا﴿٧﴾

whereas by day a long chain of doings is thy portion.

എന്നാൽ പകൽ സമയത്ത് നിനക്ക് ചെയ്യേണ്ടതായി ദീർഘമായ പ്രവൃത്തികളുടെ ഒരു നിര തന്നെയുണ്ട്.

وَٱذْكُرِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ وَتَبَتَّلْ إِلَيْهِ تَبْتِيلًۭا﴿٨﴾

But [whether by night or by day,] remember thy Sustainer's name, and devote thyself unto Him with utter devotion.

എന്നാൽ (രാത്രിയിലായാലും പകലിലായാലും,) നിന്റെ നാഥന്റെ നാമം സ്മരിക്കുകയും, പൂർണ്ണമായ സമർപ്പണത്തോടെ അവനു മാത്രമായി നിന്നെ നീ സമർപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുക.

رَّبُّ ٱلْمَشْرِقِ وَٱلْمَغْرِبِ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ فَٱتَّخِذْهُ وَكِيلًۭا﴿٩﴾

The Sustainer of the east and the west [is He]: there is no deity save Him: hence, ascribe to Him alone the power to determine thy fate,

കിഴക്കിന്റെയും പടിഞ്ഞാറിന്റെയും നാഥൻ (അവൻ മാത്രമാകുന്നു): അവനല്ലാതെ യാതൊരു ദൈവവുമില്ല; അതിനാൽ നിന്റെ വിധി നിർണ്ണയിക്കാനുള്ള അധികാരം അവനെ മാത്രം ഭരമേൽപ്പിക്കുക.

وَٱصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَٱهْجُرْهُمْ هَجْرًۭا جَمِيلًۭا﴿١٠﴾

and endure with patience whatever people may say [against thee], and avoid them with a comely avoidance.

ജനങ്ങൾ (നിനക്കെതിരെ) പറയുന്ന കാര്യങ്ങളെ നീ ക്ഷമയോടെ നേരിടുകയും, സുന്ദരമായ രീതിയിൽ അവരിൽ നിന്ന് ഒഴിഞ്ഞുമാറുകയും ചെയ്യുക.

وَذَرْنِى وَٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ أُو۟لِى ٱلنَّعْمَةِ وَمَهِّلْهُمْ قَلِيلًا﴿١١﴾

And leave Me alone [to deal] with those who give the lie to the truth - those who enjoy the blessings of life [without any thought of God] - and bear thou with them for a little while:

സത്യത്തെ നിഷേധിച്ചു തള്ളുന്ന ആ ആളുകളെയും — (ദൈവചിന്തയില്ലാതെ) ജീവിതത്തിലെ അനുഗ്രഹങ്ങൾ ആസ്വദിച്ചു കഴിയുന്നവരെയും — എന്നെയും നീ വിട്ടേക്കുക കുറച്ചുകാലം കൂടി അവരെ ഇമ്മട്ടില്‍ കഴിയാനനുവദിക്കുക.

إِنَّ لَدَيْنَآ أَنكَالًۭا وَجَحِيمًۭا﴿١٢﴾

for, behold, heavy fetters [await them] with Us, and a blazing fire,

കാരണം, തീർച്ചയായും ഭാരമേറിയ വിലങ്ങുകളും ആളിപ്പടരുന്ന നരകാഗ്നിയും നമ്മുടെ പക്കൽ അവർക്കായി (കാത്തിരിപ്പുണ്ട്),

وَطَعَامًۭا ذَا غُصَّةٍۢ وَعَذَابًا أَلِيمًۭا﴿١٣﴾

and food that chokes, and grievous suffering

തൊണ്ടയിൽ തങ്ങിനിൽക്കുന്ന ആഹാരവും കഠിനമായ ശിക്ഷയുമുണ്ട് —

يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَٱلْجِبَالُ وَكَانَتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَثِيبًۭا مَّهِيلًا﴿١٤﴾

on the Day when the earth and the mountains will be convulsed and the mountains will [crumble and] become like a sand-dune on the move!

ഭൂമിയും പർവ്വതങ്ങളും പ്രകമ്പനം കൊള്ളുകയും, പർവ്വതങ്ങൾ (തകർന്ന്) ഒലിച്ചുപോകുന്ന മണൽക്കൂന പോലെയായിത്തീരുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന ഒരു നാളിലാണത് സംഭവിക്കുക!

إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَيْكُمْ رَسُولًۭا شَٰهِدًا عَلَيْكُمْ كَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ رَسُولًۭا﴿١٥﴾

BEHOLD, [O men,] We have sent unto you an apostle who shall bear witness to the truth before you, even as We sent an apostle unto Pharaoh:

ജനങ്ങളേ, നാം ഫറോവയിലേക്ക് ഒരു ദൂതനെ അയച്ചതുപോലെ, നിങ്ങൾക്കും സത്യത്തിന് സാക്ഷിയായി ഒരു ദൂതനെ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

فَعَصَىٰ فِرْعَوْنُ ٱلرَّسُولَ فَأَخَذْنَٰهُ أَخْذًۭا وَبِيلًۭا﴿١٦﴾

and Pharaoh rebelled against the apostle, whereupon We took him to task with a crushing grip.

എന്നാൽ ഫറോവ ആ ദൂതനോട് അനുസരണക്കേട് കാണിച്ചു; അതിനാൽ നാം അവനെ കഠിനമായി പിടികൂടി.

فَكَيْفَ تَتَّقُونَ إِن كَفَرْتُمْ يَوْمًۭا يَجْعَلُ ٱلْوِلْدَٰنَ شِيبًا﴿١٧﴾

How, then, if you refuse to acknowledge the truth, will you protect yourselves on that Day which shall turn the hair of children grey,

അങ്ങനെയെങ്കിൽ, നിങ്ങൾ ഈ സത്യത്തെ അംഗീകരിക്കാൻ വിസമ്മതിക്കുകയാണെങ്കിൽ, കുട്ടികളുടെ മുടി പോലും നരപ്പിച്ചു വെളുപ്പിച്ചു കളയുന്ന ആ ഒരു നാളിലെ ശിക്ഷയിൽ നിന്നും നിങ്ങൾ എങ്ങനെയാണ് സ്വയം രക്ഷപ്പെടുക?

ٱلسَّمَآءُ مُنفَطِرٌۢ بِهِۦ ۚ كَانَ وَعْدُهُۥ مَفْعُولًا﴿١٨﴾

[the Day] on which the skies shall be rent asunder, [and] His promise [of resurrection] fulfilled?

ആകാശങ്ങൾ പിളർന്നുമാറുന്ന, അവന്റെ (പുനരുത്ഥാനത്തെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള) വാഗ്ദാനം പൂർണ്ണമായി നടപ്പിലാക്കപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരു നാളാണത്!

إِنَّ هَٰذِهِۦ تَذْكِرَةٌۭ ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ سَبِيلًا﴿١٩﴾

This, verily, is a reminder: let him who wills, then set out on a way to his Sustainer!

തീർച്ചയായും ഇത് ഒരു ഉദ്ബോധനമാകുന്നു: അതിനാൽ ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നവർ തന്റെ നാഥനിലേക്കുള്ള പാത തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കട്ടെ!

۞ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ تَقُومُ أَدْنَىٰ مِن ثُلُثَىِ ٱلَّيْلِ وَنِصْفَهُۥ وَثُلُثَهُۥ وَطَآئِفَةٌۭ مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ مَعَكَ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ يُقَدِّرُ ٱلَّيْلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ ۚ عَلِمَ أَن لَّن تُحْصُوهُ فَتَابَ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ فَٱقْرَءُوا۟ مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنَ ٱلْقُرْءَانِ ۚ عَلِمَ أَن سَيَكُونُ مِنكُم مَّرْضَىٰ ۙ وَءَاخَرُونَ يَضْرِبُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ يَبْتَغُونَ مِن فَضْلِ ٱللَّهِ ۙ وَءَاخَرُونَ يُقَٰتِلُونَ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ۖ فَٱقْرَءُوا۟ مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنْهُ ۚ وَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُوا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَأَقْرِضُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًۭا ۚ وَمَا تُقَدِّمُوا۟ لِأَنفُسِكُم مِّنْ خَيْرٍۢ تَجِدُوهُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ هُوَ خَيْرًۭا وَأَعْظَمَ أَجْرًۭا ۚ وَٱسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌۭ رَّحِيمٌۢ﴿٢٠﴾

BEHOLD, [O Prophet,] thy Sustainer knows that thou keepest awake [in prayer] nearly two- thirds of the night, or one-half of it, or a third of it, together with some of those who follow thee. And God who determines the measure of night and day, is aware that you would never grudge it: and therefore He turns towards you in His grace. Recite, then, as much of the Qur'an as you may do with ease. He knows that in time there will be among you sick people, and others who will go about the land in search of God's bounty, and others who will fight in God's cause. Recite, then, [only] as much of it as you may do with ease, and be constant in prayer, and spend in charity, and [thus] lend unto God a goodly loan: for whatever good deed you may offer up in your own behalf, you shall truly find it with God - yea, better, and richer in reward. And [always] seek God's forgiveness: behold, God is much-forgiving, a dispenser of grace!

(പ്രവാചകാ,) നീയും നിന്നെ പിന്തുടരുന്നവരിൽ ഒരു വിഭാഗവും രാത്രിയുടെ ഏകദേശം മൂന്നിൽ രണ്ട് ഭാഗമോ, അല്ലെങ്കിൽ പകുതിയോ, അതല്ലെങ്കിൽ മൂന്നിലൊരു ഭാഗമോ (പ്രാർത്ഥനയ്ക്കായി) ഉണർന്നിരിക്കുന്നുണ്ടെന്ന് തീർച്ചയായും നിന്റെ നാഥന് അറിയാം. രാപ്പകലുകളുടെ ദൈർഘ്യം നിശ്ചയിക്കുന്ന ദൈവത്തിന്, നിങ്ങൾ അതിൽ ഒട്ടും മടി കാണിക്കുകയില്ലെന്ന് കൃത്യമായി അറിയാം; അതിനാൽ അവൻ തന്റെ അനുഗ്രഹത്താൽ നിങ്ങളിലേക്ക് തിരിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു. തന്മൂലം, ഖുർആനിൽ നിന്നും നിങ്ങൾക്ക് എളുപ്പമുള്ളത്ര ഭാഗം നിങ്ങൾ ഓതുക. നിങ്ങളുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ രോഗികളുണ്ടാകുമെന്നും, ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അനുഗ്രഹം തേടിക്കൊണ്ട് ഭൂമിയിലൂടെ സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്ന മറ്റു ചിലരുണ്ടാകുമെന്നും, ദൈവമാർഗ്ഗത്തിൽ പോരാടുന്ന വേറെ ചിലരുണ്ടാകുമെന്നും അവനു നന്നായി അറിയാം. അതിനാൽ, അതിൽ നിന്നും നിങ്ങൾക്ക് എളുപ്പമുള്ളത്ര ഭാഗം മാത്രം നിങ്ങൾ (ഇനിമേൽ) ഓതുക, പ്രാർത്ഥന കൃത്യമായി നിലനിർത്തുക, സകാത്ത് നൽകുകയും ചെയ്യുക; ഒപ്പം ദൈവത്തിന് ഉത്തമമായൊരു കടം നൽകുകയും ചെയ്യുക. നിങ്ങളുടെ സ്വന്തം ആത്മാക്കൾക്കായി ഏത് നല്ല കാര്യമാണോ നിങ്ങൾ മുൻകൂട്ടി ചെയ്തു വെക്കുന്നത്, അത് അതിനേക്കാൾ ഉത്തമവും പ്രതിഫലത്തിൽ ഏറെ വലുതുമായി ദൈവത്തിങ്കൽ നിങ്ങൾക്ക് കണ്ടെത്താൻ കഴിയുന്നതാണ്. നിങ്ങൾ (എല്ലായ്പ്പോഴും) ദൈവത്തോട് പാപമോചനം തേടുക: തീർച്ചയായും ദൈവം ഏറെ പൊറുക്കുന്നവനും കരുണാനിധിയുമാകുന്നു!
