അബസ · Surah 80 of 114 · 42 verses · Makkah
عَبَسَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ﴿١﴾
HE FROWNED and turned away
അവൻ മുഖം ചുളിക്കുകയും തിരിഞ്ഞുകളയുകയും ചെയ്തു,
أَن جَآءَهُ ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ﴿٢﴾
because the blind man approached him!
ആ അന്ധൻ തന്റെ അടുക്കലേക്ക് വന്നതിനാൽ!
وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّهُۥ يَزَّكَّىٰٓ﴿٣﴾
Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity,
(ഓ മുഹമ്മദ്,) നിനക്കെങ്ങനെ അറിയാം, അവൻ ഒരുപക്ഷേ (കൂടുതൽ) വിശുദ്ധി കൈവരിച്ചേക്കാമായിരുന്നല്ലോ,
أَوْ يَذَّكَّرُ فَتَنفَعَهُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰٓ﴿٤﴾
or have been reminded [of the truth], and helped by this reminder.
അല്ലെങ്കിൽ അവൻ (സത്യത്തെക്കുറിച്ച്) ഓർമ്മിപ്പിക്കപ്പെടുകയും, ആ ഓർമ്മപ്പെടുത്തൽ അവന് ഉപകാരപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്തേക്കാമായിരുന്നു.
أَمَّا مَنِ ٱسْتَغْنَىٰ﴿٥﴾
Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient
എന്നാൽ താൻ സ്വയംപര്യാപ്തനാണെന്ന് കരുതുന്നവനാരോ,
فَأَنتَ لَهُۥ تَصَدَّىٰ﴿٦﴾
to him didst thou give thy whole attention,
അവനിലേക്കാണ് നീ പൂർണ്ണ ശ്രദ്ധ കേന്ദ്രീകരിച്ചത്,
وَمَا عَلَيْكَ أَلَّا يَزَّكَّىٰ﴿٧﴾
although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity;
അവൻ വിശുദ്ധി കൈവരിക്കാത്തതിൽ നിനക്ക് യാതൊരു ഉത്തരവാദിത്തവുമില്ലാതിരുന്നിട്ടും;
وَأَمَّا مَن جَآءَكَ يَسْعَىٰ﴿٨﴾
but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness
എന്നാൽ അതിയായ താല്പര്യത്തോടെ നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ഓടിവന്നവനാരോ,
وَهُوَ يَخْشَىٰ﴿٩﴾
and in awe [of God]
ഒപ്പം (ദൈവത്തെക്കുറിച്ച്) ഭയഭക്തിയുള്ളവനുമായിരുന്നിട്ടും
فَأَنتَ عَنْهُ تَلَهَّىٰ﴿١٠﴾
him didst thou disregard!
അവനെ നീ അവഗണിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു!
كَلَّآ إِنَّهَا تَذْكِرَةٌۭ﴿١١﴾
NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder:
ഒരിക്കലുമല്ല, തീർച്ചയായും ഈ (സന്ദേശങ്ങൾ) ഒരു ഉദ്ബോധനം മാത്രമാകുന്നു:
فَمَن شَآءَ ذَكَرَهُۥ﴿١٢﴾
and so, whoever is willing may remember Him
അതിനാൽ ആർ ഉദ്ദേശിക്കുന്നുവോ അവൻ ദൈവത്തെ ഓർക്കട്ടെ.
فِى صُحُفٍۢ مُّكَرَّمَةٍۢ﴿١٣﴾
in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity,
ആദരണീയമായ ദൈവിക വെളിപാടുകളുടെ (വെളിച്ചത്തിൽ),
مَّرْفُوعَةٍۢ مُّطَهَّرَةٍۭ﴿١٤﴾
lofty and pure,
ഉന്നതവും പരിശുദ്ധവുമായ,
بِأَيْدِى سَفَرَةٍۢ﴿١٥﴾
[borne] by the hands of messengers
സന്ദേശവാഹകരുടെ കരങ്ങളാൽ (വഹിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന),
كِرَامٍۭ بَرَرَةٍۢ﴿١٦﴾
noble and most virtuous.
അത്യന്തം മാന്യരും പുണ്യവാന്മാരുമായ.
قُتِلَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ مَآ أَكْفَرَهُۥ﴿١٧﴾
[But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth!
(എങ്കിലും പലപ്പോഴും) മനുഷ്യൻ സ്വയം നാശത്തിലേക്ക് കൂപ്പുകുത്തുന്നു: എത്രമാത്രം വാശിയോടെയാണ് അവൻ സത്യത്തെ നിഷേധിക്കുന്നത്!
مِنْ أَىِّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقَهُۥ﴿١٨﴾
[Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him?
ഏത് വസ്തുവിൽ നിന്നാണ് (ദൈവം) തന്നെ സൃഷ്ടിച്ചതെന്ന് (മനുഷ്യൻ എപ്പോഴെങ്കിലും ചിന്തിക്കുന്നുണ്ടോ)?
مِن نُّطْفَةٍ خَلَقَهُۥ فَقَدَّرَهُۥ﴿١٩﴾
Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature,
ഒരു ശുക്ല കണത്തിൽ നിന്നാണ് ദൈവം അവനെ സൃഷ്ടിച്ചത്, തുടർന്ന് അവന്റെ പ്രകൃതം നിശ്ചയിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു,
ثُمَّ ٱلسَّبِيلَ يَسَّرَهُۥ﴿٢٠﴾
and then makes it easy for him to go through life;
പിന്നീട് ജീവിതസരണി സരളമാക്കിക്കൊടുത്തു;
