Surah Al-Fatir — The Originator

ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ فَاطِرِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ جَاعِلِ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ رُسُلًا أُو۟لِىٓ أَجْنِحَةٍۢ مَّثْنَىٰ وَثُلَٰثَ وَرُبَٰعَ ۚ يَزِيدُ فِى ٱلْخَلْقِ مَا يَشَآءُ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ قَدِيرٌۭ﴿١﴾

ALL PRAISE is due to God, Originator of the heavens and the earth, who causes the angels to be [His] message-bearers, endowed with wings, two, or three, or four.¹ [Unceasingly] He adds to His creation whatever He wills:² for, verily, God has the power to will anything.

ആകാശഭൂമികളുടെ സൃഷ്ടാവായ, രണ്ടും മൂന്നും നാലും ചിറകുകളുള്ള മാലാഖമാരെ സന്ദേശവാഹകരായി നിശ്ചയിച്ച ദൈവത്തിനാകുന്നു സര്‍വ്വസ്തുതിയും . അവനിച്ഛിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ അവന്‍ അവന്റെ സൃഷ്ടികളിലേക്ക് കൂട്ടിച്ചേര്‍ക്കലുകള്‍ നടത്തുന്നു:എന്തെന്നാല്‍, അവനാകുന്നു സകലതിനും കഴിയും ശക്തിയുമുള്ളവന്‍.

مَّا يَفْتَحِ ٱللَّهُ لِلنَّاسِ مِن رَّحْمَةٍۢ فَلَا مُمْسِكَ لَهَا ۖ وَمَا يُمْسِكْ فَلَا مُرْسِلَ لَهُۥ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ﴿٢﴾

Whatever grace God opens up to man, none can withhold it; and whatever He withholds, none can henceforth release: for He alone is almighty, truly wise.

ദൈവം മനുഷ്യര്‍ക്ക് എന്തൊക്കെ അനുഗ്രഹങ്ങള്‍ തുറന്ന് നല്‍കിയോ, ഒരാള്‍ക്കും അതൊന്നും പിടിച്ചുവെക്കാന്‍ സാധിക്കുകയില്ല; അതുപോലെ അവന്‍ എന്തെല്ലാം തടഞ്ഞ് വെച്ചോ, അതൊന്നും ആര്‍ക്കും വിട്ടയക്കാനും സാധ്യമല്ല: അവനാകുന്നു ഏറെ പ്രതാപവാനും യുക്തിജ്ഞനും.

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ ٱذْكُرُوا۟ نِعْمَتَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ ۚ هَلْ مِنْ خَٰلِقٍ غَيْرُ ٱللَّهِ يَرْزُقُكُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ فَأَنَّىٰ تُؤْفَكُونَ﴿٣﴾

O men! Call to mind the blessings which God has bestowed upon you! Is there any creator, other than God, that could provide for you sustenance out of heaven and earth?³ There is no deity save Him: and yet, how perverted are your minds!⁴

അല്ലയോ മനുഷ്യരേ! ദൈവം നിങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് മേല്‍ ചൊരിഞ്ഞ് നല്‍കിയിട്ടുള്ള അനുഗ്രഹങ്ങള്‍ ആലോചിച്ചുനോക്കുക! ആകാശങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്നും ഭൂമിയില്‍ നിന്നും നിങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് വിഭവം ചൊരിഞ്ഞ് തരുന്നവനായി ദൈവമല്ലാതെ മറ്റാരെങ്കിലുമുണ്ടോ? അവനല്ലാതെ മറ്റൊരു ആരാധ്യനില്ല തന്നെ: എന്നിട്ടും നിങ്ങളുടെ മനസ്സുകള്‍ എത്ര വഴികേടിലാണ്!

وَإِن يُكَذِّبُوكَ فَقَدْ كُذِّبَتْ رُسُلٌۭ مِّن قَبْلِكَ ۚ وَإِلَى ٱللَّهِ تُرْجَعُ ٱلْأُمُورُ﴿٤﴾

But if they [whose minds are perverted] give thee the lie, [O Prophet, remember that] even so, before thy time, have [other] apostles been given the lie: for [the unbelievers always refuse to admit that] all things go back to God [as their source].

എന്നാല്‍ അവര്‍ (മനസ്സുകള്‍ വഴികേടിലായവര്‍) നിന്നെ കളവാക്കുന്നുണ്ടെങ്കില്‍‍, (പ്രവാചകരേ ഓര്‍ക്കുക) നിനക്ക് മുമ്പ് മറ്റ് ദൂതന്മാരും ഇങ്ങനെ കളവാക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്: എന്തെന്നാല്‍ ദൈവത്തിലേക്കാകുന്നു സകല വസ്തുക്കളുടെയും മടക്കം (അവിശ്വാസികള്‍ ഇതംഗീകരിക്കാന്‍ മടിക്കുന്നു).

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ إِنَّ وَعْدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقٌّۭ ۖ فَلَا تَغُرَّنَّكُمُ ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ وَلَا يَغُرَّنَّكُم بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْغَرُورُ﴿٥﴾

O MEN! Verily, God's promise [of resurrection] is true indeed: let not, then, the life of this world delude you, and let not [your own] deceptive thoughts about God delude you!⁵

അല്ലയോ മനുഷ്യരേ! (പുനരുദ്ധാരണനാളിനെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള) ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വാഗ്ദാനം സത്യമാകുന്നു: ഈ ഐഹിക ജീവിതം നിന്നെ പ്രലോഭിപ്പിക്കാതിരിക്കട്ടെ, അത്പോലെ ദൈവത്തെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള (നിന്റെ തന്നെ) തെറ്റിദ്ധരിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ചിന്തകളും നിന്നെ വഴിതെറ്റിക്കാതിരിക്കട്ടെ!

إِنَّ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنَ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّۭ فَٱتَّخِذُوهُ عَدُوًّا ۚ إِنَّمَا يَدْعُوا۟ حِزْبَهُۥ لِيَكُونُوا۟ مِنْ أَصْحَٰبِ ٱلسَّعِيرِ﴿٦﴾

Behold, Satan is a foe unto you: so treat him as a foe. He but calls on his followers to the end that they might find themselves among such as are destined for the blazing flame -

ഓര്‍ക്കുക, ചെകുത്താന്‍ നിന്റെ ശത്രുവാകുന്നു. അതുകൊണ്ട്, അവനെ ശത്രുവായി തന്നെ പരിഗണിക്കുക. ആളിക്കത്തുന്ന നരകാഗ്നിയിലേക്ക് വിധിക്കപ്പെടാനത്രെ അവന്‍ അവന്റെ അനുയായികളെ ക്ഷണിക്കുന്നത്-

ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌۭ شَدِيدٌۭ ۖ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَهُم مَّغْفِرَةٌۭ وَأَجْرٌۭ كَبِيرٌ﴿٧﴾

[seeing that] for those who are bent on denying the truth there is suffering severe in store, just as for those who have attained to faith and do righteous deeds there is forgiveness of sins, and a great reward.

സത്യത്തെ നിഷേധിക്കുന്നതില്‍ മുഴുകിയിരിക്കുന്നവര്‍ക്ക് ഏറെ വേദനാജനകമായ ശിക്ഷയുണ്ട്, അതുപോലെ വിശ്വസിക്കുകയും നന്മ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തവര്‍ക്ക് പാപമുക്തിയും വലിയ പ്രതിഫലങ്ങളുമുണ്ട്.

أَفَمَن زُيِّنَ لَهُۥ سُوٓءُ عَمَلِهِۦ فَرَءَاهُ حَسَنًۭا ۖ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُضِلُّ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَهْدِى مَن يَشَآءُ ۖ فَلَا تَذْهَبْ نَفْسُكَ عَلَيْهِمْ حَسَرَٰتٍ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِيمٌۢ بِمَا يَصْنَعُونَ﴿٨﴾

Is, then, he to whom the evil of his own doings is [so] alluring that [in the end] he regards it as good [anything but a follower of Satan]? For, verily, God lets go astray him that wills [to go astray], just as He guides him that wills [to be guided].⁶ Hence, [O believer,] do not waste thyself in sorrowing over them: verily, God has full knowledge of all that they do!

(ചെകുത്താന്റെ അനുയായികള്‍ക്കല്ലാതെ) ആര്‍ക്കാണ് തന്റെ തന്നെ ചീത്ത കര്‍മങ്ങള്‍ വളരെ ആകര്‍ഷണീയമായി തോന്നുന്നതും അവസാനം അതുതന്നെയാണ് നല്ലതെന്ന് തോന്നുന്നതും? എന്തെന്നാല്‍, നിശ്ചയമായും, ദൈവം അവനുദ്ദേശിക്കുന്നവരെ ദുര്‍മാര്‍ഗത്തിലാക്കുന്നു, അവനിച്ഛിക്കുന്നവര്‍ക്ക് അവന്‍ മാര്‍ഗദര്‍ശനം നല്‍കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.ആയതിനാല്‍ (ഹേ വിശ്വാസികളേ) അവരെക്കുറിച്ചോര്‍ത്ത് വിഷമിച്ച് നിങ്ങളുടെ സമയം കളയേണ്ടതില്ല: എന്തെന്നാല്‍, ദൈവം അവര്‍ ചെയ്യുന്ന പ്രവര്‍ത്തികളെക്കുറിച്ച് കൃത്യമായ ധാരണയുള്ളവനാകുന്നു!

وَٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَرْسَلَ ٱلرِّيَٰحَ فَتُثِيرُ سَحَابًۭا فَسُقْنَٰهُ إِلَىٰ بَلَدٍۢ مَّيِّتٍۢ فَأَحْيَيْنَا بِهِ ٱلْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ ٱلنُّشُورُ﴿٩﴾

AND [remember:] it is God who sends forth the winds, so that they raise a cloud, whereupon We drive it towards dead land and thereby give life to the earth after it had been lifeless: even thus shall resurrection be!

ഓര്‍ക്കുക: ദൈവമാകുന്നു കാറ്റുകളെ അയക്കുന്നത്, അങ്ങനെ അവര്‍ മേഘങ്ങളെ ഉയര്‍ത്തുന്നു, എന്നിട്ട് നാം അവയെ തരിശുഭൂമിയിലേക്ക് അയക്കുകയും അത് വരെ ജീവച്ഛവമായി കടന്നിരുന്ന ഭൂമിക്ക് ജീവന്‍ നല്‍കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു: മരിച്ചവരെ പുനര്‍സൃഷ്ടിക്കുന്നതും ഇങ്ങനെയാകുന്നു!

مَن كَانَ يُرِيدُ ٱلْعِزَّةَ فَلِلَّهِ ٱلْعِزَّةُ جَمِيعًا ۚ إِلَيْهِ يَصْعَدُ ٱلْكَلِمُ ٱلطَّيِّبُ وَٱلْعَمَلُ ٱلصَّٰلِحُ يَرْفَعُهُۥ ۚ وَٱلَّذِينَ يَمْكُرُونَ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌۭ شَدِيدٌۭ ۖ وَمَكْرُ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُوَ يَبُورُ﴿١٠﴾

He who desires might and glory [ought to know that] all might and glory belong to God [alone]. Unto Him ascend all good words, and the righteous deed does He exalt. But as for those who cunningly devise evil deeds - suffering severe awaits them; and all their devising is bound to come to nought.⁷

ശക്തിയും മഹത്വവും ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവര്‍ ശക്തിയും മഹത്വവും ദൈവത്തിന് (മാത്രമുള്ളതാണെന്ന് മനസ്സിലാക്കിക്കൊള്‍ക). എല്ലാ നല്ല വചനങ്ങളും, എല്ലാ സല്‍ക്കര്‍മങ്ങളും അവനിലേക്കുയര്‍ത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. എന്നാല്‍ വളരെ തന്ത്രപൂര്‍വ്വം ദുഷ് പ്രവൃത്തി കള്‍ ചെയ്യുന്നവരെ കൊടിയ ശിക്ഷ കാത്തിരിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്; അവരുടെ എല്ലാ തന്ത്രങ്ങലും അവസാനം ഉപകാരശൂന്യമായിത്തീരുന്നു

وَٱللَّهُ خَلَقَكُم مِّن تُرَابٍۢ ثُمَّ مِن نُّطْفَةٍۢ ثُمَّ جَعَلَكُمْ أَزْوَٰجًۭا ۚ وَمَا تَحْمِلُ مِنْ أُنثَىٰ وَلَا تَضَعُ إِلَّا بِعِلْمِهِۦ ۚ وَمَا يُعَمَّرُ مِن مُّعَمَّرٍۢ وَلَا يُنقَصُ مِنْ عُمُرِهِۦٓ إِلَّا فِى كِتَٰبٍ ۚ إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ يَسِيرٌۭ﴿١١﴾

And [remember:] God creates [every one of] you out of dust,⁸ then out of a drop of sperm; and then He fashions you into either of the two sexes.⁹ And no female conceives or gives birth unless it be with His knowledge; and none that is long-lived has his days lengthened - and neither is aught lessened of his days - unless it be thus laid down in [God's] decree: for, behold, all this is easy for God.

ഓര്‍ക്കുക: ദൈവം (നിങ്ങളെയെല്ലാവരെയും) മണ്ണില്‍ നിന്നും സൃഷ്ടിച്ചു,എന്നിട്ട് ഒരു ശുക്ലകണത്തില്‍ നിന്നും; അവന്‍ പിന്നീട് നിങ്ങളെ ഇണകളാക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.അവന്റെ അറിവു കൂടാതെ ഒരു സ്ത്രീയും ഗര്‍ഭം ധരിക്കുന്നില്ല, പ്രസവിക്കുന്നുമില്ല; അവന്റെ ഇച്ഛക്കനുസരിച്ചല്ലാതെ- ഒരാളുടെയും പ്രായമേറുന്നില്ല- ഒരാളുടെയും ദിനങ്ങള്‍ കുറയുന്നുമില്ല, എന്തെന്നാല്‍, ഇതെല്ലാം ദൈവത്തിന് ഏറെ എളുപ്പമുള്ള കാര്യങ്ങളത്രെ!

وَمَا يَسْتَوِى ٱلْبَحْرَانِ هَٰذَا عَذْبٌۭ فُرَاتٌۭ سَآئِغٌۭ شَرَابُهُۥ وَهَٰذَا مِلْحٌ أُجَاجٌۭ ۖ وَمِن كُلٍّۢ تَأْكُلُونَ لَحْمًۭا طَرِيًّۭا وَتَسْتَخْرِجُونَ حِلْيَةًۭ تَلْبَسُونَهَا ۖ وَتَرَى ٱلْفُلْكَ فِيهِ مَوَاخِرَ لِتَبْتَغُوا۟ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ﴿١٢﴾

[Easy is it for Him to create likeness and variety:¹⁰] thus, the two great bodies of water [on earth]¹¹ are not alike - the one sweet, thirst-allaying, pleasant to drink, and the other salty and bitter: and yet, from either of them do you eat fresh meat, and [from either] you take gems which you may wear; and on either thou canst see ships ploughing through the waves, so that you might [be able to] go forth in quest of some of His bounty, and thus have cause to be grateful.

(ഇങ്ങനെ സാമ്യതയുള്ളതും വ്യത്യസ്തതയുള്ളതും സൃഷ്ടിക്കുക എന്നത് അവന് ഏറെ എളുപ്പമുള്ള കാര്യമത്രെ) : അങ്ങനെ (ഭൂമിയിലെ) രണ്ട് ജലശേഖരങ്ങള്‍‍‍‍‍ ഒരേപോലെയാവുന്നില്ല- ഒന്ന് മധുരമുള്ളതും, ദാഹമകറ്റുന്നതും, കുടിക്കാന്‍ പറ്റുന്നതും, മറ്റേത് ഉപ്പു് കലങ്ങിയതും ചവര്‍പ്പ് നിറഞ്ഞതും: എന്നിട്ടും, രണ്ടില്‍‍ നിന്നും നിങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ശുദ്ധമായ മാംസം ലഭിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്, നിങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് അണിയാനുള്ള ആഭരണങ്ങള്‍ (മുത്തുകള്‍) ലഭിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്; തിരമാലകള്‍ക്കിടയിലൂടെ കപ്പലുകള്‍ കടന്നുപോവുന്നത് രണ്ടിലും നീ കാണുന്നു, അതുകൊണ്ട് നീ ദൈവത്തിനോട് നന്ദിയുള്ളവനാവാനും അവന്റെ അനുഗ്രഹത്തില്‍ നിന്നും അല്‍പ്പം തേടാനും.

يُولِجُ ٱلَّيْلَ فِى ٱلنَّهَارِ وَيُولِجُ ٱلنَّهَارَ فِى ٱلَّيْلِ وَسَخَّرَ ٱلشَّمْسَ وَٱلْقَمَرَ كُلٌّۭ يَجْرِى لِأَجَلٍۢ مُّسَمًّۭى ۚ ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ لَهُ ٱلْمُلْكُ ۚ وَٱلَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦ مَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِن قِطْمِيرٍ﴿١٣﴾

He makes the night grow longer by shortening the day, and He makes the day grow longer by shortening the night; and He has made the sun and the moon subservient [to His laws], each running its course for a term set [by Him].¹² Thus is God, your Sustainer: unto Him belongs all dominion - whereas those whom you invoke instead of Him do not own so much as the husk of a date-stone!

അവന്‍ പകലിനെ ചുരുക്കിക്കൊണ്ട് രാത്രിയെ ദീര്‍ഘിപ്പിക്കുന്നു, അതുപോലെ പകലിനെ ദീര്‍ഘിപ്പിച്ചുക്കൊണ്ട് രാത്രിയെ ചുരുക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു; അവന്‍ സൂര്യ-ചന്ദ്രനെ (അവന്റെ നിയമങ്ങള്‍) അനുസരിക്കുന്നവരായി മാറ്റിയിരിക്കുന്നു, അവന്‍ നിശ്ചയിച്ച സമയക്രമത്തിലത്രെ ഇവ ചലിക്കുന്നത് ഇതാകുന്നു നിന്റെ രക്ഷിതാവായ ദൈവം; അവന്റേതാകുന്നു സര്‍വ്വവും- അതേസമയം നീ വിളിച്ചു പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥിക്കുന്നവരുടെ അധീനതയില്‍ ഒരു പുല്‍നാമ്പ് പോലുമില്ല!

إِن تَدْعُوهُمْ لَا يَسْمَعُوا۟ دُعَآءَكُمْ وَلَوْ سَمِعُوا۟ مَا ٱسْتَجَابُوا۟ لَكُمْ ۖ وَيَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ يَكْفُرُونَ بِشِرْكِكُمْ ۚ وَلَا يُنَبِّئُكَ مِثْلُ خَبِيرٍۢ﴿١٤﴾

If you invoke them, they do not hear your call; and even if they could hear, they would not [be able to] respond to you. And [withal,] on the Day of Resurrection they will utterly disown your having associated them with God.¹³ And none can make thee understand [the truth] like the One who is all-aware.

നീ അവരെ വിളിക്കുമ്പോള്‍, അവര്‍ക്ക് നിങ്ങളുടെ വിളി കേള്‍ക്കാന്‍ സാധിക്കുകയില്ല; ഇനി അഥവാ കേട്ടാല്‍ തന്നെ, അവര്‍ക്ക് നിങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് മറുപടി തരാനും സാധ്യമല്ല. പുനരുദ്ധാരണത്തിന്റെ ദിവസമാകട്ടെ, നിങ്ങള്‍ അവരെ ദൈവത്തിലേക്ക് പങ്ക് ചേര്‍ത്തതിനെ അവര്‍ പൂര്‍ണ്ണമായും നിഷേധിക്കുകയും കൈയ്യൊഴിയുകയും ചെയ്യും!എല്ലാമറിയുന്ന ഒരുവനെപ്പോലെ മറ്റാര്‍ക്കും നിനക്ക് ഈ സത്യങ്ങള്‍ ബോധ്യപ്പെടുത്തി നല്‍കാന്‍ സാധിക്കുകയില്ല

۞ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ أَنتُمُ ٱلْفُقَرَآءُ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ ۖ وَٱللَّهُ هُوَ ٱلْغَنِىُّ ٱلْحَمِيدُ﴿١٥﴾

O men! It is you who stand in need of God, whereas He alone is self-sufficient, the One to whom all praise is due.

അല്ലയോ മനുഷ്യരേ! നിങ്ങളാകുന്നു ദൈവത്തെ ആവശ്യമുള്ളവര്‍, അവന്‍ പരാശ്രയമുക്തനാകുന്നു, അവനാകുന്നു സര്‍വ്വസ്തുതിയും.

إِن يَشَأْ يُذْهِبْكُمْ وَيَأْتِ بِخَلْقٍۢ جَدِيدٍۢ﴿١٦﴾

If He so wills, He can do away with you and bring forth a new mankind [in your stead]:¹⁴

അവന്‍ ഇച്ഛിക്കുകയാണെങ്കില്‍ അവന് നിങ്ങളെ മാറ്റി പകരം പുതിയൊരു മനുഷ്യരാശിയെ കൊണ്ട് വരാം:

وَمَا ذَٰلِكَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ بِعَزِيزٍۢ﴿١٧﴾

nor is this difficult for God.

അവനത് ഒരു ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടുള്ള കാര്യമല്ലത്രെ.

وَلَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌۭ وِزْرَ أُخْرَىٰ ۚ وَإِن تَدْعُ مُثْقَلَةٌ إِلَىٰ حِمْلِهَا لَا يُحْمَلْ مِنْهُ شَىْءٌۭ وَلَوْ كَانَ ذَا قُرْبَىٰٓ ۗ إِنَّمَا تُنذِرُ ٱلَّذِينَ يَخْشَوْنَ رَبَّهُم بِٱلْغَيْبِ وَأَقَامُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ ۚ وَمَن تَزَكَّىٰ فَإِنَّمَا يَتَزَكَّىٰ لِنَفْسِهِۦ ۚ وَإِلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمَصِيرُ﴿١٨﴾

AND NO BEARER of burdens shall be made to bear another's burden;¹⁵ and if one weighed down by his load calls upon [another] to help him carry it, nothing thereof may be carried [by that other], even if it he one's near of kin.¹⁶ Hence, thou canst [truly] warn only those who stand in awe of their Sustainer although He is beyond the reach of their perception,¹⁷ and are constant in prayer, and [know that] whoever grows in purity, attains to purity but for the good of his own self, and (that] with God is all journeys' end.

ഭാരം വഹിക്കുന്ന ഒരാളും മറ്റൊരാളുടെ ഭാരം വഹിക്കപ്പെടുകയില്ല; തന്റെ അതിയായ ഭാരം നിമിത്തം ആരെങ്കിലും മറ്റൊരാളോട് സഹായമഭ്യര്‍ത്ഥിച്ചാല്‍, ഒരാളും അത് വന്ന് ചുമക്കുകയില്ല, അവന്റെ അടുത്ത ബന്ധുക്കള്‍ പോലും. ആയതിനാല്‍, തങ്ങളുടെ ഗ്രാഹ്യശേഷിക്കപ്പുറമാണെങ്കില്‍ ദൈവത്തെ ഭയക്കുന്നവരെയും നിരന്തരം പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥനകളിൽ മുഴുകുന്നവരെയും മാത്രമേ നിനക്ക് സത്യമായും മുന്നറിയിപ്പ് കൊടുക്കാന്‍ സാധിക്കുകയുള്ളൂ. (അറിയുക) ആരെങ്കിലും വിശുദ്ധി കൈക്കൊള്ളുന്നുവെങ്കില്‍ അത് അവന്റെ തന്നെ നല്ലതിന് വേണ്ടിയാകുന്നു, എല്ലാ യാത്രകളുടെയും അവസാനം ദൈവത്തിങ്കലേക്കത്രെ!

وَمَا يَسْتَوِى ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ وَٱلْبَصِيرُ﴿١٩﴾

For [thus it is:] the blind and the seeing are not equal;

എന്തെന്നാല്‍: കാഴ്ച്ചയുള്ളവനും അന്ധനും തുലര്യല്ല;

وَلَا ٱلظُّلُمَٰتُ وَلَا ٱلنُّورُ﴿٢٠﴾

nor are the depths of darkness and the light;

അന്ധകാരവും പ്രകാശവും ഒരുപോലെയല്ല;

وَلَا ٱلظِّلُّ وَلَا ٱلْحَرُورُ﴿٢١﴾

nor the [cooling) shade and the scorching heat:

കനത്ത ചൂടും കുളിരേകുന്ന തണലും ഒന്നല്ല:

وَمَا يَسْتَوِى ٱلْأَحْيَآءُ وَلَا ٱلْأَمْوَٰتُ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُسْمِعُ مَن يَشَآءُ ۖ وَمَآ أَنتَ بِمُسْمِعٍۢ مَّن فِى ٱلْقُبُورِ﴿٢٢﴾

and neither are equal the living and the dead [of heart]. Behold, [O Muhammad] God can make hear whomever He wills, whereas thou canst not make hear such as are [dead of heart like the dead] in their graves:

അതുപോലെ, മരിച്ചവരും ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നവരും തുലര്യല്ല. (അല്ലയോ പ്രവാചകരേ) ദൈവം അവനാഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവരെ കേള്‍പ്പിക്കുന്നു, പക്ഷെ നിനക്ക് ശ്മശാനങ്ങളിലുള്ളവരെ കേള്‍പ്പിക്കാനാവില്ല:

إِنْ أَنتَ إِلَّا نَذِيرٌ﴿٢٣﴾

thou art nothing but a warner.

നീ ഒരു മുന്നറിയിപ്പുകാരനല്ലാതെ മറ്റൊന്നുമല്ല.

إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَٰكَ بِٱلْحَقِّ بَشِيرًۭا وَنَذِيرًۭا ۚ وَإِن مِّنْ أُمَّةٍ إِلَّا خَلَا فِيهَا نَذِيرٌۭ﴿٢٤﴾

Verily, We have sent thee with the truth, as a bearer, of glad tidings and a warner: for there never was any community but a warner has [lived and] passed away in its midst.¹⁸

നിശ്ചയമായും, നാം നിന്നെ സത്യവുമായി അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു, സന്തോഷവാര്‍ത്തകളുടെ സുവിശേഷകനായിട്ടും, അതുപോലെ ഒരു മുന്നറിയിപ്പുകാരനായിട്ടും, ഒരു മുന്നറിയിപ്പുകാരനെ കൂടാതെ ഒരു സമുദായവും കടന്നുപോയിട്ടില്ല.

وَإِن يُكَذِّبُوكَ فَقَدْ كَذَّبَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ جَآءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ وَبِٱلزُّبُرِ وَبِٱلْكِتَٰبِ ٱلْمُنِيرِ﴿٢٥﴾

And if they give thee the lie - even so gave the lie to the truth [many of] those who lived before their time, [when] there came unto them their apostles with all evidence of the truth, and with books of divine wisdom, and with light-giving revelation;

എന്നാല്‍ അവര്‍ നിന്നെ കളവാക്കുകയാണെങ്കില്‍- സത്യത്തിന്റെ തെളിവുകളും, വിശുദ്ധ വേദങ്ങളും, ദിവ്യസന്ദേശങ്ങളുമായി അവരുടെ ദൂതന്മാര്‍ അവരിലേക്കെത്തിയപ്പോള്‍, അവര്‍ക്ക് മുന്നെ കടന്നുപോയവരില്‍ (ഭൂരിഭാഗവും) സത്യത്തെ കളവാക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്;

ثُمَّ أَخَذْتُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ ۖ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ نَكِيرِ﴿٢٦﴾

[but] tn the end I took to task all those who were bent on denying the truth: and how awesome was My rejection!

(പക്ഷെ) അവസാനം, സത്യത്തെ നിഷേധിക്കുന്നവരില്‍ മുഴുകിയവരുടെ കാര്യം ഞാന്‍ കൈകാര്യം ചെയ്തു: എന്റെ ശിക്ഷ എത്ര കഠിനമായിരുന്നു എന്ന് നോക്കുക!

أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ أَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءًۭ فَأَخْرَجْنَا بِهِۦ ثَمَرَٰتٍۢ مُّخْتَلِفًا أَلْوَٰنُهَا ۚ وَمِنَ ٱلْجِبَالِ جُدَدٌۢ بِيضٌۭ وَحُمْرٌۭ مُّخْتَلِفٌ أَلْوَٰنُهَا وَغَرَابِيبُ سُودٌۭ﴿٢٧﴾

ART THOU NOT aware that God sends down water from the skies, whereby We bring forth fruits of many hues - just as in the mountains there are streaks of white and red of various shades, as well as [others] raven-black,

ആകാശങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്നും ജലവര്‍ഷം നടത്തുന്നത് ദൈവമാണെന്ന കാര്യം നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കറിയില്ലേ? എന്നിട്ടതിലൂടെ വിവിധ തരങ്ങളിലുള്ള പഴവര്‍ഗങ്ങളെ നാം സൃഷ്ടിക്കുന്നു- വെളുപ്പും ചുവപ്പും, ചിലപ്പോള്‍ കറുപ്പും തുടങ്ങി വ്യത്യസ്ത നിറങ്ങളിലുള്ള പാറക്കെട്ടുകള്‍ പര്‍വതങ്ങള്‍ക്കിടയിലുള്ളപോലെ,

وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَٱلدَّوَآبِّ وَٱلْأَنْعَٰمِ مُخْتَلِفٌ أَلْوَٰنُهُۥ كَذَٰلِكَ ۗ إِنَّمَا يَخْشَى ٱللَّهَ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ ٱلْعُلَمَٰٓؤُا۟ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَزِيزٌ غَفُورٌ﴿٢٨﴾

and [as] there are in men, and in crawling beasts, and in cattle, too, many hues?¹⁹ Of all His servants, only such as are endowed with [innate] knowledge²⁰ stand (truly] in awe of God: [for they alone comprehend that,] verily, God is almighty, much-forgiving.

ഇതുപോലെ, മനുഷ്യരുടെയും വന്യമൃഗങ്ങളുടെയും, കന്നുകാലികളുടെയും നിറങ്ങളും വ്യത്യസ്തങ്ങളാകുന്നു അവന്റെ ദാസന്‍മാരില്‍ വ്യക്തമായ ജ്ഞാനമുള്ളവര്‍ മാത്രമേ ദൈവത്തെ ഭയഭക്തിയോടു കൂടെ കാണുകയുള്ളൂ: (എന്തെന്നാല്‍ അവര്‍ക്ക് മാത്രമേ മനസ്സിലാവുകയുള്ളൂ) ദൈവം ഏറെ പ്രതാപവാനും ഏറെ പൊറുക്കുന്നവനുമാണ്”

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَتْلُونَ كِتَٰبَ ٱللَّهِ وَأَقَامُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَأَنفَقُوا۟ مِمَّا رَزَقْنَٰهُمْ سِرًّۭا وَعَلَانِيَةًۭ يَرْجُونَ تِجَٰرَةًۭ لَّن تَبُورَ﴿٢٩﴾

[It is] they who [truly] follow God's revelation, and are constant in prayer, and spend on others, secretly and openly, out of what We provide for them as sustenance - it is they who may look forward to a bargain that can never fail,

ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സന്ദേശത്തെ (സത്യമായും) പിന്തുടരുകയും, നമസ്കാരത്തില്‍ സ്ഥിരത നിലനിര്‍ത്തുകയും, നാം അവര്‍ക്ക് നല്‍കിയതില്‍ നിന്നും മറ്റുള്ളവര്‍ക്ക് വേണ്ടി രഹസ്യമായും പരസ്യമായും ചെലവഴിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നവരുണ്ടല്ലോ- അവര്‍ക്കാകുന്നു ഒരിക്കലും പരാജയപ്പെടാത്ത, നഷ്ടം പറ്റാത്ത കച്ചവടം വാഗ്ദാനം ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുള്ളവര്‍,

لِيُوَفِّيَهُمْ أُجُورَهُمْ وَيَزِيدَهُم مِّن فَضْلِهِۦٓ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ غَفُورٌۭ شَكُورٌۭ﴿٣٠﴾

since He will grant them their just rewards, and give them yet more out of His bounty: for, verily, He is much-forgiving, ever-responsive to gratitude.

ദൈവം അവര്‍ക്ക് വ്യക്തമായ പ്രതിഫലം നല്‍കുകയും, അവന്റെ വിഭവങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്നും അവര്‍ക്ക് കൂടുതല്‍ നല്‍കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു: എന്തെന്നാല്‍, അവന്‍ ഏറെ പൊറുക്കുന്നവനും നന്ദി കാണിക്കുന്നവരോട് ഏറെ പ്രതികരിക്കുന്നവനുമാകുന്നു.

وَٱلَّذِىٓ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْكَ مِنَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ هُوَ ٱلْحَقُّ مُصَدِّقًۭا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِعِبَادِهِۦ لَخَبِيرٌۢ بَصِيرٌۭ﴿٣١﴾

And (know that] all of the divine writ with which We have inspired thee is the very truth, conftrming the truth of whatever there still remains of earlier revelations²¹ - for, behold, of [the needs of] His servants God is fully aware, all-seeing.

(അറിയുക) നാം നിനക്ക് നല്‍കിയിരിക്കുന്ന ദിവ്യവേദമുണ്ടല്ലോ, അത് തന്നെയാകുന്നു വ്യക്തമായ സത്യം, അതിനുമുമ്പുള്ള വേദങ്ങളില്‍ ബാക്കിയുള്ളതിലെ സത്യങ്ങളെ ശരിവെക്കുന്നതാകുന്നു ഈ വേദം – എന്തെന്നാല്‍, നിശ്ചയമായും ദൈവം (അവന്റെ ദാസന്മാരുടെ ആവശ്യങ്ങള്‍) എല്ലാം അറിയുന്നുവനും, എല്ലാം കാണുന്നവനുമാകുന്നു.

ثُمَّ أَوْرَثْنَا ٱلْكِتَٰبَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱصْطَفَيْنَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ۖ فَمِنْهُمْ ظَالِمٌۭ لِّنَفْسِهِۦ وَمِنْهُم مُّقْتَصِدٌۭ وَمِنْهُمْ سَابِقٌۢ بِٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْفَضْلُ ٱلْكَبِيرُ﴿٣٢﴾

And so, We have bestowed this divine writ as a heritage unto such of Our servants as We chose: and among them are some who sin against themselves; and some who keep half-way [between right and wrong];²² and some who, by God's leave, are foremost in deeds of goodness: [and] this, indeed, is. a merit most high!

അങ്ങനെ, നാം തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്ത നമ്മുടെ ദാസന്മാരെ ഈ ദിവ്യ വേദത്തിന്റെ അനന്തരാവകാശികളാക്കി, അവയില്‍ ചിലര്‍ അവരോട് തന്നെ പാപം ചെയ്യുന്നവരാകുന്നു; ചിലരാകട്ടെ (തെറ്റിനും ശെരിക്കുമിടയില്‍) സമദൂരം കാത്തുസൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നവരാകുന്നു: ചിലരോ, ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അനുഗ്രഹത്താല്‍, നന്മയില്‍ മുഴുകുന്നവരാകുന്നു: ഇതാകുന്നു ഏറ്റവും ഉന്നതമായ ഗുണം!

جَنَّٰتُ عَدْنٍۢ يَدْخُلُونَهَا يُحَلَّوْنَ فِيهَا مِنْ أَسَاوِرَ مِن ذَهَبٍۢ وَلُؤْلُؤًۭا ۖ وَلِبَاسُهُمْ فِيهَا حَرِيرٌۭ﴿٣٣﴾

[Hence,] gardens of perpetual bliss will they enter, therein to be adorned with bracelets of gold and pearls, and therein to be clad in raiments of silk;²³

അങ്ങനെ അവര്‍ നിരന്തരസൗഖ്യത്തിന്റെ സ്വര്‍ഗീയാരാമങ്ങളില്‍ പ്രവേശിക്കും, അവിടെ വെച്ച് അവര്‍ സ്വര്‍ണത്തിന്റെയും മുത്തുകളുടെയും മാലകളാല്‍ അലങ്കരിക്കപ്പെടും, പട്ടുടുപ്പുകളില്‍ വിരാജിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും;

وَقَالُوا۟ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَذْهَبَ عَنَّا ٱلْحَزَنَ ۖ إِنَّ رَبَّنَا لَغَفُورٌۭ شَكُورٌ﴿٣٤﴾

and they will say: "All praise is due to God, who has caused all sorrow to leave us: for, verily, our Sustainer is indeed much- forgiving, ever-responsive to gratitude -

എന്നിട്ട് അവര്‍ പറയും: “എല്ലാ സ്തുതിയും ദൈവത്തിനാകുന്നു, അവനാകുന്നു ഞങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്നും ദുഖത്തെ നീക്കിത്തന്നവന്‍: എന്തെന്നാല്‍, നിശ്ചയമായും, ഞങ്ങളുടെ രക്ഷിതാവ് ഏറെ പൊറുക്കുന്നവനും നന്ദിയുള്ളവനുമത്രെ-

ٱلَّذِىٓ أَحَلَّنَا دَارَ ٱلْمُقَامَةِ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ لَا يَمَسُّنَا فِيهَا نَصَبٌۭ وَلَا يَمَسُّنَا فِيهَا لُغُوبٌۭ﴿٣٥﴾

He who, out of His bounty, has made us alight in this abode of life enduring, wherein no struggle can assail us, and wherein no weariness can touch us!"

അവന്‍ അവന്റെ അനുഗ്രഹത്താല്‍, ഈ ശാശ്വതമായ ജീവിതപ്രതലത്തിലേക്ക് പ്രവേശിപ്പിച്ചു, ഇവിടെ ഞങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ഒരു ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടും അനുഭവിക്കേണ്ടി വരില്ല, ഒരു ക്ഷീണവും ഞങ്ങളെ സ്പര്‍ശിക്കുകയുമില്ല!”

وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَهُمْ نَارُ جَهَنَّمَ لَا يُقْضَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ فَيَمُوتُوا۟ وَلَا يُخَفَّفُ عَنْهُم مِّنْ عَذَابِهَا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى كُلَّ كَفُورٍۢ﴿٣٦﴾

But as for those who are bent on denying the truth - the fire of hell awaits them: no end shall be put to their lives so that they could die, nor shall aught of the suffering caused by that [fire] be lightened for them: thus shall We requite all who are bereft of gratitude.

അതേസമയം സത്യത്തെ നിഷേധിക്കുന്നവരില്‍ മുഴുകുന്നവരാകട്ടെ- നരകാഗ്നിയാകുന്നു അവരെ കാത്തിരിക്കുന്നത്: മരിച്ച് പോയിക്കൊണ്ട് ഇതില്‍ നിന്നും മുക്തരാവുന്ന വിധം അവരുടെ ജീവിതം അവസാനിക്കപ്പെടുകയില്ല, നരകശിക്ഷയില്‍ നിന്നുമുള്ള ദുരിതത്തിന്റെ അല്‍പഭാഗം പോലും അവര്‍ക്ക് സുഗമമാക്കി കൊടുക്കുകയുമില്ല: നന്ദിക്കെട്ടവര്‍ക്കും നിഷേധിച്ചവര്‍ക്കും നാം പ്രതിഫലം നല്‍കുക ഇങ്ങനെയായിരിക്കും.

وَهُمْ يَصْطَرِخُونَ فِيهَا رَبَّنَآ أَخْرِجْنَا نَعْمَلْ صَٰلِحًا غَيْرَ ٱلَّذِى كُنَّا نَعْمَلُ ۚ أَوَلَمْ نُعَمِّرْكُم مَّا يَتَذَكَّرُ فِيهِ مَن تَذَكَّرَ وَجَآءَكُمُ ٱلنَّذِيرُ ۖ فَذُوقُوا۟ فَمَا لِلظَّٰلِمِينَ مِن نَّصِيرٍ﴿٣٧﴾

And in that [hell] they will cry aloud: "O our Sustainer! Cause us to come out [of this suffering]! We shall [henceforth] do good deeds, not such as we were wont to do [aforetime]!" [But We shall answer:] "Did We not grant you a life long enough so that whoever was willing to take thought could bethink himself? And [withal,] a warner had come unto you! Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil deeds]: for evildoers shall have none to succour them!"

അങ്ങനെ (നരകത്തില്‍നിന്നും) അവര്‍ ഉച്ചത്തില്‍ നിലവിളിക്കും: “അല്ലയോ ഞങ്ങലുടെ രക്ഷിതാവേ! ഞങ്ങളെ ഈ ദുരിതത്തില്‍ നിന്നും മോചിപ്പിക്കേണമേ! ഞങ്ങള്‍ (ഇനിമുതല്‍) നല്ലത് പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചോളാം, ഞങ്ങള്‍ (മുമ്പോ) പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചതുപോലെ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുകയുമില്ല!” (എന്നാല്‍ നാം ഇങ്ങനെ മറുപടി നല്‍കും:) “ചിന്തിക്കുന്നര്‍ക്ക് സ്വയം ചിന്തിച്ച് മനസ്സിലാക്കാന്‍ മാത്രം നീണ്ട ജീവിതം നാം നിങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് നല്‍കിയിരുന്നില്ലേ? അതുപോലെ, മുന്നറിയിപ്പ് നല്‍കുന്നവര്‍ നിങ്ങളിലേക്ക് വരികയും ചെയ്തിരുന്നു! അതിനാല്‍ (നിങ്ങളുടെ കര്‍മഫലങ്ങള്‍) രുചിച്ചുക്കൊള്ളുക: വഴിപിഴച്ച് പോയവര്‍ക്ക് ഒരു സഹായിമുണ്ടാവുകയില്ല!”

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَٰلِمُ غَيْبِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ عَلِيمٌۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ﴿٣٨﴾

VERILY, God knows the hidden reality of the heavens and the earth: [and,] behold, He has full knowledge of what is in the hearts [of men].

നിശ്ചയമായും, ദൈവം ആകാശ-ഭൂമികളിലെ മറഞ്ഞുകിടക്കുന്നതെല്ലാം അറിയുന്നവനാകുന്നു: ഓര്‍ക്കുക, മനുഷ്യരുടെ ഹൃദയങ്ങളിലുള്ളതിനെക്കുറിച്ചും അവന്‍ പൂര്‍ണ്ണമായ അറിവുള്ളവനാകുന്നു.

هُوَ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَكُمْ خَلَٰٓئِفَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ فَمَن كَفَرَ فَعَلَيْهِ كُفْرُهُۥ ۖ وَلَا يَزِيدُ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ كُفْرُهُمْ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ إِلَّا مَقْتًۭا ۖ وَلَا يَزِيدُ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ كُفْرُهُمْ إِلَّا خَسَارًۭا﴿٣٩﴾

He it is who has made you inherit the earth.²⁴ Hence, he who is bent on denying the truth [of God's oneness and uniqueness ought to know that] this denial of his will fall back upon him: for their [persistent] denial of this truth does but add to the deniers' loathsomeness in their Sustainer's sight and, thus, their denial of this truth does but add to the deniers' loss.

അവനാകുന്നു ഭൂമിയിലേക്ക് നിങ്ങളെ നിയോഗിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. ആയതിനാല്‍, ആരെങ്കിലും സത്യത്തെ നിഷേധിക്കുന്നതില്‍ മുഴുകിയിരിക്കുകയാണെങ്കില്‍ ആ നിഷേധം അവന്റെ മേല്‍ തന്നെ വന്ന് വീഴും: എന്തെന്നാല്‍ സത്യത്തിന്റെ ഈ നിരന്തരമായ നിഷേധം ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മുന്നില്‍ അവരോടുള്ള വെറുപ്പ് വളര്‍ത്തുകയും, അങ്ങനെ, സത്യത്തെ നിഷേധിക്കുന്നവരുടെ നഷ്ടങ്ങളുടെ കണക്ക് വര്‍ധിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും.

قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُمْ شُرَكَآءَكُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَرُونِى مَاذَا خَلَقُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ أَمْ لَهُمْ شِرْكٌۭ فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ أَمْ ءَاتَيْنَٰهُمْ كِتَٰبًۭا فَهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَتٍۢ مِّنْهُ ۚ بَلْ إِن يَعِدُ ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ بَعْضُهُم بَعْضًا إِلَّا غُرُورًا﴿٤٠﴾

Say: "Have you ever [really] considered those beings and forces to whom you ascribe a share in God's divinity,²⁵ [and] whom you invoke beside God? Show me what it is that they have created on earth or do [you claim that] they have a share in [governing] the heavens?" Have We ever vouchsafed them²⁶ a divine writ on which they could rely as evidence [in support of their views]?²⁷ Nay, [the hope which] the evildoers hold out to one another [is] nothing but a delusion.²⁸

പറയുക: “നിങ്ങള്‍ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദിവ്യത്വത്തില്‍ പങ്ക് ചേര്‍ത്തുക്കൊണ്ട് ആരാധിക്കുന്ന ശക്തികളെയും മൂര്‍ത്തികളെയും കുറിച്ച് ശരിക്കും ആലോചിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ, ഭൂമിയില്‍ അവര്‍ എന്താണ് സൃഷ്ടിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളതെന്ന് എനിക്ക് നിങ്ങളൊന്ന് കാണിച്ച് തരിക, അതല്ല ഇനി അവര്‍ക്ക് ആകാശലോകങ്ങളിലാണോ അധികാരപങ്കാളിത്തമുള്ളത്?” വല്ല ദിവ്യരേഖയും നാം അവര്‍ക്ക് കൊടുത്തിട്ടുണ്ടോ (അവരുടെ കാഴ്ച്ചപാടുകളുടെ തെളിവായി കാണിക്കാവുന്ന തരത്തില്‍?) – ഇല്ല ഈ തെറ്റുകാര്‍ ഇങ്ങനെ പരസ്പരം പങ്ക് വെച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നത് മിഥ്യകളല്ലാതെ മറ്റൊന്നുമല്ല.

۞ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُمْسِكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ أَن تَزُولَا ۚ وَلَئِن زَالَتَآ إِنْ أَمْسَكَهُمَا مِنْ أَحَدٍۢ مِّنۢ بَعْدِهِۦٓ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ حَلِيمًا غَفُورًۭا﴿٤١﴾

Verily, it is God [alone] who upholds the celestial bodies²⁹ and the earth, lest they deviate [from their orbits] for if they should ever deviate, there is none that could uphold them after He will have ceased to do so.³⁰) [But,] verily, He is ever-forbearing, much-forgiving!³¹

നിശ്ചയമായും, ആകാശഭൂമികളെ ഉറപ്പിച്ച് നിര്‍ത്തുന്നത് ദൈവമാകുന്നു , അവ (അവയുടെ ഭ്രമണപഥങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്നും) വ്യതിചലിക്കുകയാണെങ്കില്‍, അവന്‍ ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നില്ലെങ്കില്‍ വേറെ ആര്‍ക്കും അവയെ പിടിച്ച് നിര്‍ത്താന്‍ സാധ്യമല്ല നിശ്ചയമായും, അവന്‍ എല്ലാം സഹിക്കുന്നവനും ഏറെ പൊറുക്കുന്നവനുമാകുന്നു!

وَأَقْسَمُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ جَهْدَ أَيْمَٰنِهِمْ لَئِن جَآءَهُمْ نَذِيرٌۭ لَّيَكُونُنَّ أَهْدَىٰ مِنْ إِحْدَى ٱلْأُمَمِ ۖ فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُمْ نَذِيرٌۭ مَّا زَادَهُمْ إِلَّا نُفُورًا﴿٤٢﴾

As it is, they [who are averse to the truth often] swear by God with their most solemn oaths that if a warner should ever come to them, they would follow his guidance better than any of the communities [of old had followed the warner sent to them]:³² but now that a warner has come unto them, [his call) but increases their aversion,

അങ്ങനെ, (സത്യത്തെ നിരന്തരം അവഗണിക്കുന്നവര്‍) ദൈവത്തില്‍ ആണയിട്ട് പറയുന്നുണ്ടായിരുന്നു, അവരിലേക്ക് ഒരു മുന്നറിയിപ്പുകാരന്‍ വന്നെത്തുകയാണെങ്കില്‍, അവര്‍ മറ്റേത് സമുദായത്തേക്കാളും (പണ്ട് മുന്നറിയിപ്പുകാരെ അയച്ചിട്ടുള്ള) മെച്ചപ്പെട്ട രീതിയില്‍ അവന്റെ മാര്‍ഗദര്‍ശനം പിന്തുടരുമെന്ന്: എന്നാല്‍ അവരിലേക്ക് ഒരു മുന്നറിയിപ്പുകാരന്‍ വന്നെത്തിയപ്പോഴോ, അവന്റെ വരവ് അവരുടെ വഴികേടിനെ വര്‍ധിപ്പിച്ചതേയുള്ളൂ,

ٱسْتِكْبَارًۭا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَكْرَ ٱلسَّيِّئِ ۚ وَلَا يَحِيقُ ٱلْمَكْرُ ٱلسَّيِّئُ إِلَّا بِأَهْلِهِۦ ۚ فَهَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا سُنَّتَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ۚ فَلَن تَجِدَ لِسُنَّتِ ٱللَّهِ تَبْدِيلًۭا ۖ وَلَن تَجِدَ لِسُنَّتِ ٱللَّهِ تَحْوِيلًا﴿٤٣﴾

their arrogant behaviour on earth, and their devising of evil [arguments against God's messages].³³ Yet [in the end,] such evil scheming will engulf none but its authors; and can they expect anything but [to be made to go] the way of those [sinners] of olden times?³⁴ Thus [it is]: no change wilt thou ever find in God's way; yea, no deviation wilt thou ever find in God's way!

ഭൂമിയിലെ അവരുടെ അഹങ്കാരത്തോടെയുള്ള മനോഭാവവും, ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സന്ദേശങ്ങള്‍ക്കെതിരെയുള്ള തെറ്റായ വാദങ്ങളും തന്ത്രങ്ങളും അവര്‍ നടത്തുകയും ചെയ്തു . എന്നിരുന്നാലും, (അവസാനം) ഈ കുടില തന്ത്രങ്ങളെല്ലാം അവരെ തന്നെ ചുറ്റിവരിയും; അവരുടെ പൂര്‍വ്വകാലങ്ങളിലെ (പാപികളോട്) ദൈവം കാണിച്ചു കൊടുത്ത പാതയല്ലാതെ മറ്റെന്തെങ്കിലും ഇവര്‍ക്ക് പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കാമോ? അങ്ങനെയാകുന്നു അത്: നിങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ തീരുമാനങ്ങളില്‍ ഒരു മാറ്റവും കാണാന്‍ സാധിക്കുകയില്ല, ആ നടപടിയില്‍ ഒരു സ്വാധീനവും നിങ്ങള്‍ കണ്ടെത്തുകയുമില്ല!

أَوَلَمْ يَسِيرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَيَنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ وَكَانُوٓا۟ أَشَدَّ مِنْهُمْ قُوَّةًۭ ۚ وَمَا كَانَ ٱللَّهُ لِيُعْجِزَهُۥ مِن شَىْءٍۢ فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَلَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَلِيمًۭا قَدِيرًۭا﴿٤٤﴾

Have they never journeyed about the earth and beheld what happened in the end to those [deniers of the truth] who lived before their time and were [so much] greater than they in power? And [do they not see that the will of] God can never be foiled by anything whatever in the heavens or on earth, since, verily, He is all-knowing, infinite in His power?

ഇവര്‍ ഭൂമിയിലൂടെ സഞ്ചരിക്കുകയും ഇവര്‍ക്ക് മുമ്പ് ഇവിടെ കഴിഞ്ഞിരുന്ന (സത്യ നിഷേധികളുടെ) അവസ്ഥയെന്തായിരുന്നുവെന്നും അവര്‍ക്ക് ഇവരേക്കാള്‍ അധികാരമുണ്ടായിരുന്നുവവെന്നും മനസ്സിലാക്കിയിട്ടില്ലേ? ആകാശങ്ങളിലും ഭൂമികളിലുമുള്ളതിനൊന്നും ദൈവത്തെ കീഴ്പ്പെടുത്താന്‍ സാധിക്കുകയുമില്ല എന്ന് അവര്‍ കാണുന്നില്ലേ? എന്തെന്നാല്‍, അവന്‍ എല്ലാം അറിയുന്നവനും എല്ലാറ്റിനും ശക്തിയുള്ളവനുമാകുന്നു!

وَلَوْ يُؤَاخِذُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلنَّاسَ بِمَا كَسَبُوا۟ مَا تَرَكَ عَلَىٰ ظَهْرِهَا مِن دَآبَّةٍۢ وَلَٰكِن يُؤَخِّرُهُمْ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍۢ مُّسَمًّۭى ۖ فَإِذَا جَآءَ أَجَلُهُمْ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ بِعِبَادِهِۦ بَصِيرًۢا﴿٤٥﴾

Now if God were to take men [at once] to task for whatever [wrong] they commit [on earth], He would not leave a single living creature upon its surface. However, He grants them respite for a term set [by Him]:³⁵ but when their term comes to an end-then, verily, [they come to know that] God sees all that is in [the hearts of] His servants.

ഇനി (ഭൂമിയില്‍) അവര്‍ ചെയ്ത (തെറ്റുകള്‍ക്കെല്ലാം) നാം മനുഷ്യരെ പിടികൂടുകയായിരുന്നുവെങ്കില്‍, ഈ ഭൂമുഖത്ത് നാം ഒരു ജീവവസ്തുവിനെയും അവശേഷിപ്പിക്കുമായിരുന്നില്ല. എന്നിരുന്നാലും, അവന്‍ അവര്‍ക്ക് ഒരു നിശ്ചിത കാലയളവ് നല്‍കുന്നു: എന്നാല്‍ അവരുടെ കാലാവധി അവസാനിക്കുമ്പോള്‍, നിശ്ചയമായും (അവരറിയും) ദൈവം അവന്റെ ദാസന്മാരുടെ (ഹൃദയങ്ങളിലുള്ളതെല്ലാം) അറിയുന്നവനാണെന്ന്.
