وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ﴿٢﴾
obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must;
അതിന്റെ നാഥന്റെ വിധി പാലിക്കുകയും (അത് അതിന്റെ ബാധ്യതയുമാകുന്നു);
وَأَلْقَتْ مَا فِيهَا وَتَخَلَّتْ﴿٤﴾
and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void,3
അതിലുള്ളതെല്ലാം അത് പുറന്തള്ളുകയും തികച്ചും ശൂന്യമായിത്തീരുകയും ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ,
وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ﴿٥﴾
obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must -:
അതിന്റെ നാഥന്റെ വിധി പാലിക്കുകയും (അത് അതിന്റെ ബാധ്യതയുമാകുന്നു);
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ إِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَدْحًۭا فَمُلَٰقِيهِ﴿٦﴾
[then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil4 - then shalt thou meet Him!
(അപ്പോൾ,) ഓ മനുഷ്യാ! നീ നിന്റെ നാഥനിലേക്ക് ക്ലേശിച്ച് ക്ലേശിച്ച് ചെന്നെത്തിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നവനും, ഒടുവിൽ നീ അവനെ കണ്ടുമുട്ടുന്നവനുമാകുന്നു.
فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ﴿٧﴾
And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand,5
എന്നാൽ ആർക്കാണോ തന്റെ കർമ്മരേഖ വലതുകൈയിൽ നൽകപ്പെടുന്നത്,
فَسَوْفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابًۭا يَسِيرًۭا﴿٨﴾
he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting,
അവന്റെ വിചാരണ ലളിതമായ ഒരു വിചാരണയായിരിക്കും,
وَيَنقَلِبُ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ مَسْرُورًۭا﴿٩﴾
and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind.6
അവൻ സന്തോഷത്തോടെ തന്റെ ആളുകളിലേക്ക് മടങ്ങുകയും ചെയ്യും.
وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ وَرَآءَ ظَهْرِهِۦ﴿١٠﴾
But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back;7
എന്നാൽ ആർക്കാണോ തന്റെ കർമ്മരേഖ തന്റെ പുറകിലൂടെ നൽകപ്പെടുന്നത്,
فَسَوْفَ يَدْعُوا۟ ثُبُورًۭا﴿١١﴾
he will in time pray for utter destruction:
അവൻ നാശത്തിനായി പ്രാർത്ഥിക്കും:
وَيَصْلَىٰ سَعِيرًا﴿١٢﴾
but he will enter the blazing flame.
ആളിക്കത്തുന്ന നരകാഗ്നിയിൽ അവൻ ചെന്നു പതിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും."
إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فِىٓ أَهْلِهِۦ مَسْرُورًا﴿١٣﴾
Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind8
തീർച്ചയായും, (ഭൂമിയിൽ) അവൻ തന്റെ കൂട്ടുകാർക്കിടയിൽ സന്തോഷവാനായിരുന്നു,
إِنَّهُۥ ظَنَّ أَن لَّن يَحُورَ﴿١٤﴾
for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God].
കാരണം, താൻ (ദൈവത്തിലേക്ക്) മടങ്ങേണ്ടിവരുമെന്ന് അവൻ ഒരിക്കലും വിചാരിച്ചിരുന്നില്ല.
بَلَىٰٓ إِنَّ رَبَّهُۥ كَانَ بِهِۦ بَصِيرًۭا﴿١٥﴾
Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him!
അതെ, തീർച്ചയായും! അവന്റെ നാഥൻ അവനിലുള്ളതെല്ലാം കണ്ടു കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നുണ്ടായിരുന്നു!"
فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلشَّفَقِ﴿١٦﴾
BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow,
എന്നാൽ അങ്ങനെയല്ല! സായന്തനത്തിലെ (ക്ഷണികഭംഗിയുള്ള) അസ്തമയശോഭയെ ഞാൻ സാക്ഷ്യം നിർത്തുന്നു,
وَٱلَّيْلِ وَمَا وَسَقَ﴿١٧﴾
and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds,
രാവിനെയും അത് ഉള്ക്കൊണ്ടിട്ടുള്ളതിനെയും,
وَٱلْقَمَرِ إِذَا ٱتَّسَقَ﴿١٨﴾
and the moon, as it grows to its fullness:9
പൂർണ്ണചന്ദ്രനായി മാറുന്ന ചന്ദ്രനെയും,
لَتَرْكَبُنَّ طَبَقًا عَن طَبَقٍۢ﴿١٩﴾
[even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage.10
(ഓ മനുഷ്യരേ, ഇതുപോലെ തന്നെ) നിങ്ങളും ക്രമാനുഗതമായി ഒരവസ്ഥയില്നിന്ന് മറ്റൊരവസ്ഥയിലേക്ക് മുന്നോട്ട് നീങ്ങാൻ ബാധ്യസ്ഥരാകുന്നു.
فَمَا لَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ﴿٢٠﴾
What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]?11
എന്നിട്ടും, അവർക്ക് (വരാനിരിക്കുന്ന ജീവിതത്തിൽ) വിശ്വസിക്കാതിരിക്കാൻ എന്ത് പറ്റിയതാണ്?
وَإِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقُرْءَانُ لَا يَسْجُدُونَ ۩﴿٢١﴾
and [that], when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration?12
തങ്ങൾക്ക് മുന്നിൽ ഖുർആൻ ഓതിക്കേൾപ്പിക്കപ്പെടുമ്പോൾ (അവർ) പ്രണാമം ചെയ്യുന്നുമില്ല?
بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يُكَذِّبُونَ﴿٢٢﴾
Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]!
മറിച്ച്, സത്യനിഷേധത്തിൽ ഉറച്ചു നിൽക്കുന്നവർ (ഈ ദൈവിക ഗ്രന്ഥത്തെ) വ്യാജമാക്കുകയാണ് ചെയ്യുന്നത്!
وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يُوعُونَ﴿٢٣﴾
Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts].13
എന്നാൽ അവർ (തങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയങ്ങളിൽ) ഒളിച്ചുവെക്കുന്നത് എന്താണെന്ന് ദൈവത്തിന് നന്നായി അറിയാം.
فَبَشِّرْهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ﴿٢٤﴾
Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come]
അതിനാൽ, അവർക്ക് കഠിനമായ ശിക്ഷയെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള (വരാനിരിക്കുന്ന ജീവിതത്തിലെ) വാർത്ത നൽകുക,
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍۭ﴿٢٥﴾
unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works: for theirs shall be a reward unending!
(അവരിൽ നിന്നും) (പശ്ചാത്തപിക്കുകയും) വിശ്വാസം കൈവരിക്കുകയും സൽപ്രവൃത്തികൾ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തവരൊഴികെ: അവർക്ക് മുറിഞ്ഞുപോകാത്ത പ്രതിഫലമുണ്ടായിരിക്കും!"
