إِذَا زُلْزِلَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ زِلْزَالَهَا﴿١﴾
WHEN THE EARTH quakes with her [last] mighty quaking,
ഭൂമി അതിന്റെ (അവസാനത്തെ) അതിഭയങ്കരമായ പ്രകമ്പനത്താൽ വിറ കൊള്ളുമ്പോൾ,
وَأَخْرَجَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ أَثْقَالَهَا﴿٢﴾
and [when] the earth yields up her burdens,1
ഭൂമി അതിന്റെയുള്ളിലെ ഭാരങ്ങളെ പുറന്തള്ളുമ്പോള്
وَقَالَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ مَا لَهَا﴿٣﴾
and man cries out, "What has happened to her?" -
മനുഷ്യൻ, 'അതിനെന്തു പറ്റി?' എന്ന് നിലവിളിച്ചു ചോദിക്കുമ്പോൾ,
يَوْمَئِذٍۢ تُحَدِّثُ أَخْبَارَهَا﴿٤﴾
on that Day will she recount all her tidings,
ആ നാളിൽ അത് തന്റെ എല്ലാ വൃത്താന്തങ്ങളും വിവരിച്ചു പറയും,
بِأَنَّ رَبَّكَ أَوْحَىٰ لَهَا﴿٥﴾
as thy Sustainer will have inspired her to do!2
നിന്റെ നാഥൻ അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യാൻ അതിനോട് ബോധനം നൽകിയതിനാലാണത്!
يَوْمَئِذٍۢ يَصْدُرُ ٱلنَّاسُ أَشْتَاتًۭا لِّيُرَوْا۟ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ﴿٦﴾
On that Day will all men come forward, cut off from one another,3to be shown their [past] deeds.
അന്ന് മനുഷ്യരെല്ലാം തങ്ങളുടെ (കഴിഞ്ഞകാല) കര്മങ്ങള് കാണുന്നതിനു വേണ്ടി, പരസ്പരം വേർപെട്ട നിലയിൽ മുന്നോട്ട് വരും.
فَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ خَيْرًۭا يَرَهُۥ﴿٧﴾
And so, he who shall have done an atom's weight of good, shall behold it;
അതിനാൽ, ഒരു അണുഅളവ് നന്മ ചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ളവൻ ആരോ, അവൻ അത് കണ്ടറിയും;
وَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍۢ شَرًّۭا يَرَهُۥ﴿٨﴾
and he who shall have done an atom's weight of evil, shall behold it.
അണുഅളവ് തിന്മ ചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ളവന് അതും കാണും."

- 2. I.e., on the Day of Judgment the earth will bear witness, as it were, to all that has ever been done by man: an explanation given by the Prophet, according to a Tradition on the authority of Abu Hurayrah (quoted by Ibn Hanbal and Tirmidhi).
- 3. Lit., "as separate entities" (ashtatan). Cf. 6:94 - "And now, indeed, you have come unto Us in a lonely state, even as We created you in the first instance": thus stressing the individual, untransferable responsibility of every human being.
