Surah Al-Mutaffifin — Those Who Give Short Measure

وَيْلٌۭ لِّلْمُطَفِّفِينَ﴿١﴾

WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure:

അളവിലും തൂക്കത്തിലും കുറവ് വരുത്തുന്നവർക്ക് നാശം!

ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ٱكْتَالُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُونَ﴿٢﴾

those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full

അതായത്, മറ്റുള്ളവരിൽ നിന്ന് തങ്ങൾക്ക് ലഭിക്കാനുള്ളത് അളന്നു വാങ്ങുമ്പോൾ പൂർണ്ണമായി വാങ്ങുകയും

وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمْ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَ﴿٣﴾

but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due!

എന്നാൽ മറ്റുള്ളവർക്ക് അളന്നോ തൂക്കിയോ കൊടുക്കേണ്ടി വരുമ്പോൾ കുറവ് വരുത്തുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നവർക്ക്!

أَلَا يَظُنُّ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ أَنَّهُم مَّبْعُوثُونَ﴿٤﴾

Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead

"തങ്ങൾ തീർച്ചയായും ഉയിർത്തെഴുന്നേൽപ്പിക്കപ്പെടേണ്ടവരാണെന്ന് അവർ മനസ്സിലാക്കുന്നില്ലേ,

لِيَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍۢ﴿٥﴾

[and called to account] on an awesome Day

ഭയാനകമായ ഒരു നാളിൽ?

يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلنَّاسُ لِرَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ﴿٦﴾

the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds?

അതായത്, മനുഷ്യരെല്ലാം പ്രപഞ്ചനാഥന്റെ മുന്നിൽ നിൽക്കുന്ന ആ നാളിൽ.

كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَٰبَ ٱلْفُجَّارِ لَفِى سِجِّينٍۢ﴿٧﴾

NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable!

ഒരിക്കലുമല്ല, തീർച്ചയായും, ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ കര്‍മപുസ്തകം ഒഴിഞ്ഞുമാറാൻ കഴിയാത്ത വിധത്തിൽ (രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു)!

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا سِجِّينٌۭ﴿٨﴾

And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be?

ഒഴിവാക്കാനാകാത്ത ആ കാര്യം എന്താണെന്ന് നിനക്ക് എങ്ങനെ ഊഹിക്കാൻ കഴിയും?

كِتَٰبٌۭ مَّرْقُومٌۭ﴿٩﴾

A record [indelibly] inscribed!

അത് (മാറ്റാൻ കഴിയാത്തവിധം) വ്യക്തമായി രേഖപ്പെടുത്തപ്പെട്ട ഒരു ഗ്രന്ഥമാകുന്നു!

وَيْلٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ﴿١٠﴾

Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth

അന്ന് സത്യത്തെ നിഷേധിക്കുന്നവർക്ക് നാശം!

ٱلَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ﴿١١﴾

those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day:

അതായത്, ന്യായവിധി നാളിനെ നിഷേധിക്കുന്നവർക്ക്.

وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِۦٓ إِلَّا كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ﴿١٢﴾

for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin:

എല്ലാ അതിരുകളും ലംഘിക്കുന്നവരും പാപത്തിൽ മുഴുകിയവരുമല്ലാതെ മറ്റാരും അതിനെ വ്യാജമാക്കുകയില്ല.

إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ﴿١٣﴾

[and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say, "Fables of ancient times!"

(അങ്ങനെ,) നമ്മുടെ സന്ദേശങ്ങൾ അവർക്ക് ഓതിക്കേൾപ്പിക്കപ്പെടുമ്പോൾ, 'ഇവ മുൻഗാമികളുടെ കെട്ടുകഥകൾ മാത്രമാണ്' എന്ന് അവർ പറയുന്നു.

كَلَّا ۖ بَلْ ۜ رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ﴿١٤﴾

Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do!

വേണ്ട, അങ്ങനെയല്ല! മറിച്ച്, അവർ ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടിരുന്ന (തിന്മകൾ) കാരണം അവരുടെ ഹൃദയങ്ങളിൽ കറ പിടിച്ചിരിക്കുകയാണ്!

كَلَّآ إِنَّهُمْ عَن رَّبِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لَّمَحْجُوبُونَ﴿١٥﴾

Nay, verily, from [the grace of] their Sustainer shall they on that Day be debarred;

തീർച്ചയായും അല്ല, അന്ന് അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ നാഥന്റെ (കാരുണ്യത്തിൽ) നിന്നും തടയപ്പടുക തന്നെ ചെയ്യും;

ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمْ لَصَالُوا۟ ٱلْجَحِيمِ﴿١٦﴾

and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire

പിന്നീട്, തീർച്ചയായും അവർ ജ്വലിക്കുന്ന നരകാഗ്നിയിൽ പ്രവേശിക്കുക തന്നെ ചെയ്യും.

ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَٰذَا ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ﴿١٧﴾

and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!"

പിന്നീട് അവരോട് പറയപ്പെടും: 'ഇതാണ് നിങ്ങൾ നിഷേധിച്ചു കൊണ്ടിരുന്ന (ആ കാര്യം)!

كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَٰبَ ٱلْأَبْرَارِ لَفِى عِلِّيِّينَ﴿١٨﴾

NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty!

അങ്ങനെയല്ല, തീർച്ചയായും സജ്ജനത്തിന്റെ കര്‍മപുസ്തകം ഉന്നതസ്ഥാനീയരുടെ പട്ടികയിലാകുന്നു.

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ﴿١٩﴾

And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be?

ആ അത്യുന്നത പദവി എന്താണെന്ന് നിനക്ക് മനസ്സിലാക്കിത്തരുന്നത് എന്താണ്?

كِتَٰبٌۭ مَّرْقُومٌۭ﴿٢٠﴾

A record [indelibly] inscribed,

അത് (മാറ്റാൻ കഴിയാത്തവിധം) രേഖപ്പെടുത്തപ്പെട്ട ഒരു ഗ്രന്ഥമാകുന്നു,
