Surah Al-Fajr — The Daybreak

وَٱلْفَجْرِ﴿١﴾

CONSIDER the daybreak

പ്രഭാതത്തെ മുൻനിർത്തി ചിന്തിക്കുക,

وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍۢ﴿٢﴾

and the ten nights!

പത്ത് രാത്രികളെയും!

وَٱلشَّفْعِ وَٱلْوَتْرِ﴿٣﴾

Consider the multiple and the One!

ഇരട്ടയായതിനെയും ഒറ്റയായതിനെയും മുൻനിർത്തി ചിന്തിക്കുക!

وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَسْرِ﴿٤﴾

Consider the night as it runs its course!

അതിന്റെ വഴിയിലൂടെ കടന്നുപോകുന്ന രാത്രിയെ മുൻനിർത്തി ചിന്തിക്കുക!

هَلْ فِى ذَٰلِكَ قَسَمٌۭ لِّذِى حِجْرٍ﴿٥﴾

Considering all this - could there be, to anyone endowed with reason, a [more] solemn evidence of the truth?

ഇതൊക്കെയും പരിഗണിക്കുമ്പോൾ — വിവേകമുള്ള ഏതൊരാൾക്കും സത്യത്തിന്റെ (കൂടുതൽ) ഗൗരവമേറിയ ഒരു തെളിവ് ഇതിലില്ലേ?

أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍ﴿٦﴾

ART THOU NOT aware of how thy Sustainer has dealt with [the tribe of] 'Ad,

ആദ് (ഗോത്രത്തോട്) നിന്റെ നാഥൻ എങ്ങനെയാണ് പ്രവർത്തിച്ചതെന്ന് നീ അറിഞ്ഞിട്ടില്ലേ?

إِرَمَ ذَاتِ ٱلْعِمَادِ﴿٧﴾

[the people of] Iram the many-pillared,

തൂണുകളുള്ള ഇറം (പട്ടണത്തിലെ ആളുകളോട്),

ٱلَّتِى لَمْ يُخْلَقْ مِثْلُهَا فِى ٱلْبِلَٰدِ﴿٨﴾

the like of whom has never been reared in all the land?

അതുപോലൊന്ന് നാടുകളിലെങ്ങും സൃഷ്ടിക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടില്ല,

وَثَمُودَ ٱلَّذِينَ جَابُوا۟ ٱلصَّخْرَ بِٱلْوَادِ﴿٩﴾

and with [the tribe of] Thamud, who hollowed out rocks in the valley?

താഴ്‌വരയിൽ പാറകൾ വെട്ടിത്തുരന്ന ഥമൂദ് (ഗോത്രത്തോടും)?

وَفِرْعَوْنَ ذِى ٱلْأَوْتَادِ﴿١٠﴾

and with Pharaoh of the [many] tent-poles?

കൂടാതെ (അനേകം) കൂടാരക്കുറ്റികളുള്ള ഫറോവയോടും?

ٱلَّذِينَ طَغَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْبِلَٰدِ﴿١١﴾

[It was they] who transgressed all bounds of equity all over their lands,

(അതവരാകുന്നു) തങ്ങളുടെ നാടുകളിൽ നീതിയുടെ എല്ലാ അതിരുകളും ലംഘിച്ചവർ,

فَأَكْثَرُوا۟ فِيهَا ٱلْفَسَادَ﴿١٢﴾

and brought about great corruption therein:

അവിടെ വലിയ തോതിൽ അഴിമതിയും നാശവും വരുത്തിവെച്ചവരും:

فَصَبَّ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّكَ سَوْطَ عَذَابٍ﴿١٣﴾

and therefore thy Sustainer let loose upon them a scourge of suffering:

തന്മൂലം നിന്റെ നാഥൻ അവർക്കുമേൽ കഠിനശിക്ഷയുടെ ചമ്മട്ടി ചൊരിഞ്ഞു,

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِٱلْمِرْصَادِ﴿١٤﴾

for, verily, thy Sustainer is ever on the watch!

കാരണം, തീർച്ചയായും നിന്റെ നാഥൻ എപ്പോഴും നിരീക്ഷിച്ചു കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുകയാണ്!"

فَأَمَّا ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ إِذَا مَا ٱبْتَلَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَأَكْرَمَهُۥ وَنَعَّمَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّىٓ أَكْرَمَنِ﴿١٥﴾

BUT AS FOR man, whenever his Sustainer tries him by His generosity and by letting him enjoy a life of ease, he says, "My Sustainer has been [justly] generous towards me";

"എന്നാൽ മനുഷ്യന്റെ കാര്യമോ, തന്റെ നാഥൻ അവന്റെ ഔദാര്യത്താലും അവനെ സുഖസൗകര്യങ്ങൾ അനുഭവിപ്പിക്കാൻ വിട്ടുകൊണ്ടും അവനെ പരീക്ഷിക്കുമ്പോഴൊക്കെ അവൻ പറയും, 'എന്റെ നാഥൻ എന്നോട് (അർഹമായ രീതിയിൽ) ഔദാര്യം കാണിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു';

وَأَمَّآ إِذَا مَا ٱبْتَلَىٰهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيْهِ رِزْقَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّىٓ أَهَٰنَنِ﴿١٦﴾

whereas, whenever He tries him by straitening his means of livelihood, he says, "My Sustainer has disgraced me!"

എന്നാൽ, അവന്റെ ഉപജീവന മാർഗ്ഗങ്ങൾ ചുരുക്കി അവനെ പരീക്ഷിക്കുമ്പോഴൊക്കെ അവൻ പറയും, 'എന്റെ നാഥൻ എന്നെ നിന്ദിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു!

كَلَّا ۖ بَل لَّا تُكْرِمُونَ ٱلْيَتِيمَ﴿١٧﴾

But nay, nay, [O men, consider all that you do and fail to do:] you are not generous towards the orphan,

ഒരിക്കലുമല്ല, (ഓ മനുഷ്യരേ, നിങ്ങൾ ചെയ്യുന്നതും ചെയ്യാൻ വീഴ്ച വരുത്തുന്നതുമെല്ലാം ആലോചിച്ചു നോക്കൂ:) നിങ്ങൾ അനാഥരോട് ഔദാര്യം കാണിക്കുന്നില്ല,

وَلَا تَحَٰٓضُّونَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلْمِسْكِينِ﴿١٨﴾

and you do not urge one another to feed the needy,

അഗതികൾക്ക് ഭക്ഷണം നൽകാൻ നിങ്ങൾ പരസ്പരം പ്രേരിപ്പിക്കുന്നുമില്ല,

وَتَأْكُلُونَ ٱلتُّرَاثَ أَكْلًۭا لَّمًّۭا﴿١٩﴾

and you devour the inheritance [of others] with devouring greed,

(മറ്റുള്ളവരുടെ) അനന്തരാവകാശം അതിരറ്റ ആർത്തിയോടെ നിങ്ങൾ തിന്നു തീർക്കുന്നു,

وَتُحِبُّونَ ٱلْمَالَ حُبًّۭا جَمًّۭا﴿٢٠﴾

and you love wealth with boundless love!

നിങ്ങൾ ധനത്തെ അളവറ്റ് സ്നേഹിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു!"
